There is a wealth of evidence out there both anecdotal and scientific that there are lots of side effects (many of which reduce quality of life, some of which are fatal) for many people who take statins. There's also a lot of evidence out there that choesterol levels are not actually that important in determining whether or not you have a heart attack or stroke Crafty Green Poethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02486633917197181851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2600659484694637338.post-24658399039044573122016-08-17T21:42:59.473+01:002016-08-17T21:42:59.473+01:00I had a severe GI bleed from a gastric ulcer. Although I had no signs of coronary artery disease, my cardiologist wanted my cholesterol to be even lower than its already normal levels. I had the side effect of severe muscle weakness and no energy. I felt as if I were wearing a lead body suit. Stopped the statin and fortunately improved within two weeks. I told my internist I would see another cardiologist if he thought I need to see one, but that I would not be returning to the one who ordered the statin. My internist said I really did not need a cardiologist.

I'm with Barb. I want my years to be active, not battling side effects of meds. I was on that statin drug for almost a year before realizing that it was doing damage to my legs (which I still have).... After getting off of that horrible drug and after losing quite a bit of weight, I began to get well. I totally changed my lifestyle: exercise, healthy eating, water, etc.... Now---although I still have to watch my weight CONSTANTLY, I am doing GREAT. No medication at all other than vitamins and nutrients...

Betsy
Betsy Banks Adamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16223591156634767330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2600659484694637338.post-69236928198563482542016-08-16T03:07:40.137+01:002016-08-16T03:07:40.137+01:00I needed to hear this.
