Phoenix, the thinking mans lowcarb anti !

I have read the Phoenix posts for the last five years, very bright, very knowledgeable, and the undisputed Queen of the cut and paste and link supremo. On an insulin pump, adequate test strips and a top notch healthcare team, and before I forget, a diet so high in carbs, most would struggle to obtain good control. Oh, does Phoenix love her carbs. A staunch defender of the Old dogma dietitian, Hope Warshaw and a some time poster at the ghastly Carbsane blog. Imagine her as a very slippery Sid Bonkers, but with a brain. OK you get the picture.

So Phoenix are you on the Flora or big pharma payroll ?

What struck me about it is that Phoenix found out much more than Professor Weissberg, who obviously didn’t know and didn't want to know. In fact I would have expected him to pass Dr Briffa's emails to an underling to put together a reply for him to sign. It appears that he couldn't even be bothered to do that. If Phoenix is not employed by Big Pharma or Unilever then they are missing a trick. Rather like the TV advertising people with you Eddie! The arrogance of these people, they can't even be bothered to defend their position.

I am only commenting on your carbohydrate remark. I understand that what I am about write is probably not what you want to read.

Phoenix is a Type 1 Diabetic and can eat carbohydrate in whatever ever quantity is required providing that sufficient Insulin is administered. My son is a 6'5 cyclist and eats a vast amount of carbohydrate at each meal. He remains slim and has excellent blood glucose control without complications after 20 years as an adult with MDI.

We are all different and a regimen that works for one person does not necessarily work for another.

I do know that Type 2 Diabetics should follow the sensible regimen promoted by this blog to restrict carbohydrates and gain control of their blood glucose to avoid complications.

Hi John

Phoenix's problem is the inference Type 2's can follow the same diet as her, over the last five years she has put a lot of time in the Type 2 forum warning of the dangers of LowCarb and backing her claims up with nonsensical studies that were based on upwards of 40% carbs.

Lets get this straight we don't have a problem with the majority of insulin dependents it's just the few who think they are experts in T2 diabetes and post as such on the DCUK forum.

Graham

I wonder if Briffa would provide further comment or clarification on Health Canada's stance. Seems he may have gotten that one wrong.
