Christmas and Cranberry Margarita's

I just love a 'red' colour scheme at this time of year, and you may have already read that we have a red themed hall table this year ... I really should try and take a photo of it ... but on the table stands a Poinsettia with red flowers, a Father Christmas, well he would be red wouldn't he!, reindeer's - with red ribbons around their necks, and a posting box, it's ornamental of course - but it's red!

So I thought wouldn't it be nice to offer my friends a lovely red themed Christmas drink ... so with this in mind may I present you with a glass of Cranberry Margarita ...

Here's what you need to do, to add a dash of festive spirit to any Christmas get-together or party. Yes it's a vivid red tequila, cranberry and triple sec cocktail, decorated with an orange sugar rim.

Ingredients:

1 tsp clear honey

finely grated zest and juice 1 orange

1 tbsp coarse sea salt

1 tbsp granulated sugar

200ml tequila

juice 1 lime

200ml cranberry juice

50ml triple sec

ice

You will need:

a fine paintbrush

Method:
Using a fine, clean paintbrush, paint a thin layer of honey around the rim of 4 Margarita or Martini glasses. In a saucer, combine the orange zest, salt and sugar, then turn the glasses upside down and dip them into the mixture. Put the glasses in the fridge to chill.

In a cocktail shaker, combine the orange juice, tequila, lime juice, cranberry juice, triple sec and ice, and shake to combine. When the outside of the shaker feels cold, strain the mixture into your prepared glasses and serve.

Now if I'm being honest, this drink is far more for me ... For the man around the house he may just prefer a simple glass of red wine, Rioja may be favourite!
