Well, I don't know what the weather has been like where you live … but here in the UK we have enjoyed some nice sunny May days. Eddie and I decided to take advantage of this and recently visited Compton Acres Gardens which is in the County of Dorset in the South of England. They are privately owned gardens originally created in the 1920's by Thomas William Simpson, and are regarded as one of the most outstanding constructed in Britain during that period. We spent several hours there, pure delight at every turn, This post will be one of a small series because we just found it breathtakingly gorgeous. Hope you enjoy this first part, and please click on each picture for an enhanced image …

I like these words ...
The kiss of the sun for pardon
The song of the birds for mirth
One is nearer Gods heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth
The kiss of the sun for pardon
The song of the birds for mirth
One is nearer Gods heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth
All the best Jan

These photos are wonderful and it looks like a magnificent garden. We had hoped to visit a friend in Dorset back when we came in October but then she got blocked out with Brexit after traveling. Perhaps next time.
What a gorgeous garden, very pretty to see.

Beautiful gardens, I’ve only ever had pictures or television to see this before, your photos are lovely, beautiful words as well!
Jardín encantador para pasear o sentarse a la sombra de un árbol.

What a great place to visit. Long may this beautiful weather last.
...gardens like this were created when gardening was an art form.
Here in Brazil there are many extremes of heat in some cities
and cold in others.
now here we are in the highest humidity this winter that enters only in late June can be very cold.
I loved knowing these spaces, in this
grounds are beautiful.
Continuation of a good week.

Magnificent photos Jan, look of serenity and peace.xx
Jan - one of my favorite activities when we visit the UK (which is almost every year) is to go to the stately gardens. As I wander the various sections, I am always in awe of the vision of the landscaper, who of course was seeing it as it would be in 20, 30, 100 years! Thanks for sharing these marvelous pictures.
WOW! This place is amazing! How lovely! Thank you for sharing these pics with all of us, Jan!!
Very nice and each one is so very different.
Love 'the song of birds for mirth!' Tis true... everything is better with birdsong. I bet they were chirping away merrily living in this great garden. Looks a stunning place, thanks for sharing.

Beautiful! Here it´s way too cold for the season, sadly. But today I´ll try some planting on the balcony.

Beautiful place.
Our spring showers are budding daily now. That means humidity, and soaked trails. Time to get out the kayak.
Weather in my corner has been wet and cool so a trip to the garden is delightful. Thanks for sharing.
Such a pretty garden. We are 15 days away from winter, but still having warm days (around 24C) but cold nights and early mornings. But as from next week both the high and low temperatures will drop :(
