Choose Your Dressing Wisely
Everyone now knows it’s important how you dress your salad. Try making your own homemade dressing with the recipe below!
- Use a 3 to 1 ratio of oil versus vinegar. As a substitute for vinegar, you can use balsamic, red wine, apple cider, or sherry vinegar, or lemon juice.
- Add in chopped herbs, minced garlic, a dash Himalayan or Pink sea salt.
- Store your creation in a glass jar with a tight lid in the refrigerator.

Mmm...I am about to make a salad.
These all look and sound wonderful! One of my favorites to add to other lettuces is frisee. Or I think it's also called curled endive.

Hello Dewena, many thanks for your comment.
Yes, curly endive, (which I enjoy) also sometimes called frisee or chicory, is a bitter dark leafy green used in salads and other dishes. Like other endives, the curly one has a characteristically sharp, bitter flavour which greatly enhances the flavour of green salads, although some may find it distasteful.
The characteristic lacy, ruffled greens also add interesting visual contrast to salads, as well as a fair amount of nutrition. This green is high in folate, fibre, and vitamins A and K, making it a great addition to any diet, especially for pregnant women.

Thanks for these lovely tips!
A salad is almost always so good...my boss used to make a salad dressing I loved, but years later I asked her for the recipe and she could not remember what I was talking about. It was one when I saw it I did not think I would like but used it to be polite and I was hooked on it. Not saying it was healthy though.
Oh a nice salad with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries would taste so good right now. Guess tomorrow I need to visit the grocery store. Happy new week.
We do love salads here. I especially like adding a bit of sliced apple or grated carrot/beetroot to a lettuce base. Blue cheese is my favourite dressing for a hearty meal-type salad, and a vinaigrette for a side salad. Yummy tips!
Great ideas for salads, one can go on for a long time with different combinations.
We are at this point heavily into salads.
I´ll keep this in mind for summer, now it´s just too cold for cold food for my liking...

Another thing that makes a good salad that I do is to walk out to my herb garden and pick a handful of different herbs, roughly chop, and toss them in as well. They add all sorts of different bits of flavor.
Salads are nice and refreshing
I always enjoy a nice salad!
