"No chips with mine thanks!
After considerable number crunching a low carb colleague has come to the very reasonable conclusion that the worst food in the world for weight gain is the fried potato in its several incarnations.
In the USA French Fries are what we in the UK call Chips. In the USA Chips are what we in the UK call Crisps.
These are ubiquitous and difficult to avoid particularly if you eat in fast food restaurants. Even if you order a sandwich you may be given a side order of chips or crisps.
Tucker explains that the vegetable and seed oils that these items are fried in play havoc with the appetite control centres of your brain. This article serves as a reminder, since many of us may still be trying to keep to our New Year’s Resolutions, and why it would be better to avoid having them on your plate or hand in the first place. And just the one or two….who are you kidding?"

...but they sure taste great!
Very good information.
Uy yo amo las papas en todas sus formas a pesar que aumentan de peso. Te mando un beso.
I am guilty of eating a few potato chips with my lunch some days. They are a treat though!
Tell ya a little something. I like use apple cider vinegar on my fries or chips.
Coffee is on and stay safe
I admit I have some once in a while. They're carby, but they're just so good.
Are you saying that fries make you hungrier?
Potatoes are miraculous with all that can be done with them. Wish they weren't so dang hip-sticking good!
Yes we do eat fries, I do not fry them though I cook them in the oven but if we do eat out they are fried.
I have tried Kale and I couldn't stomach it at all.
Thanks for sharing. I've just started on low carb to help control my sugar.
No chips, no buns :-) Kale chips ain't good either. They bloat me terribly.
Chips/crisps are rare treats here.
I do enjoy a few french fries once in awhile, and potato chips (crisps) are a big temptation for me, so I rarely buy them. They are both so delicious!
And although I've tried other vegetable chips/crisps, nothing comes close to the potato variety for taste.
Oops, I like baked potatoes :(
But, I don't eat them that often :)
All the best and have a nice week.

I am not wild about chips on this side of the pond to be honest, so I almost never eat them and when I do, it's because I am really hungry. I prefer spuds drizzled with olive oil, tossed with herbs, and then roasted. Or baked and topped with veg.
When I volunteered (in the US) at a food pantry, I made kale chips once as a demo--we had lots of kale from local organic farms and people didn't know what to do with it, so would refuse it and other leafy veg. I did demos to give them ideas. The coordinator was quite crazy about kale chips. They were pretty good.
Love potatoes baked rather than fried.
Great information.
hugs
Donna
I have tried kale 'chips' and am not a big fan. I rarely eat french fries--only if they are done in a air fryer. I do like sweet potato fries though.
Yes, I eat French fries. Not many, though, but sometimes it's just the thing I want.
ooooh any potato...chips, fries, mashed but especially hot fresh fries. french fries are the best!!
I have tried all of the above and yes it's true, they sell chips with everything, I'm sure as with everything else they are fine now and then in moderation.
Ah there were times when I was familiar to them :(((
I have chips once in while, not a big fan of them.
I love french fries but eat them occasionally.
I don't like oven fries.
Greetings.
Dutch people have a strong affection for fries and it's a staple in their cuisine. Fries are often enjoyed as a snack with a variety of dipping sauces or as a side dish to traditional Dutch meals. The love for fries is a deeply ingrained part of Dutch culture, and it's not surprising to see locals munching on them in any given moment. They are typically made by cutting potatoes into thin, long strips, then frying them twice in sunflower oil to create a crispy exterior and a soft, fluffy interior. The fries are seasoned with salt and often served with a side of mayonnaise for dipping. Overall, Dutch people have a fondness for this crispy treat, and it's an essential part of their food culture.
I never eat it but my hubby and sons ... every Saterday.
Oh potato chips is surely one of my weaknesses and fried potatoes. But, I do not eat often but sometimes I just have to have a handful so I can taste that crunch! Everything in moderation is my key to eating. LOL! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Oh, but they taste so good! Why can't carbs have zero calories?
I cut potatoes out of my diet almost a year ago.
I do eat them sometimes and I eat sweet potato fries sometimes too
Sweet potato fries are pretty popular around here. We get them if we can.
Soy más de alimentos a la plancha que fritos.
Un abrazo.

Hello and many thanks for your comment/question.
In the original article Tucker Goodrich explains that the vegetable and seed oils that these items are fried in play havoc with the appetite control centres of your brain. (you perhaps don't feel so full so you eat more)
There's lots more to read in the original article, which I linked to, but for ease of reference I've shown it below

Hope this helps

Lovely chips, done the way vegetables. Love Jan.
There's a Canadian dish called poutine- fries with gravy and cheese curds. Definitely not low carb.
Las patatas fritas están muy buenas, las como alguna vez, muy poco, pero sí me gustan. Besos.
Oh I couldn't give up French Fries.
We cut up potatoes and then make them in the air fryer.
Great post on fries and chips ~ crisps and chips
