Are you officially old?
Well I am ... I hit 49 a few years ago LOL ππ
Do you like talking about the ‘good old days’, gardening or drinking tea?
It’s a telltale sign you’re getting old, according to Britain’s youngsters.
A poll of 1,000 children aged seven to 16 found listening to the radio (51 per cent) and watching daytime TV (48 per cent) were other signs of ageing, along with moaning about aches and pains (45 per cent).
The age-old British pastime of moaning about the weather (34 per cent) and doing crosswords (32 per cent) also counted as major markers.
Oh yes, and respondents also decided you officially became ‘old’ when you hit 49.

...some days I feel old and then some days I don't!
ReplyDeleteI'm an elderling at 71. Sounds more mischevious like an out of control hobbit. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteHa! I'm officially old then too!
ReplyDeleteHahaha
ReplyDeleteI'm officially old too!
Tina
Ha ha. I taught high school for 36 years and it was always surprising when I student referred to as a teacher as being old, especially as an adult we didn't think of ourselves as old. But this was fun to read.
ReplyDeleteUy ya soy oficialmente vieja. que cosas. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDelete70 is the new 30s.
ReplyDeleteDear Jan, you are a Spring chicken. LOL!!! You are 20 years younger than me. I am 69.
ReplyDeletePeople tell me I look younger. Some days I feel younger, other days not.
You know when I was 50 I remember thinking my 62 yr old friend was old when she told me her age-Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com.
ReplyDeleteGee, I'm OLD but I kinda already knew that because of my aches and pains! π
ReplyDeleteI don't watch daytime TV or listen to the radio so I have that going for me but I am very attuned to the weather - and I admit I do like talking about gardening and the good old days.
I am getting old - at least in number of years. lol
ReplyDeleteYes, Jan I am old because I'm 80 heading towards 81 in a few months time.
ReplyDeleteInteresting what the younger ones class as being or getting old.
Definitely OLD...LOL
ReplyDeleteThere is no way I was old at 49, I was still working at the factory, no time to be old! Now at 73 I finally felt old just last winter.
ReplyDeleteI drink lots of tea and moan about the weather so yes I am. xx
ReplyDeleteThe body that I inhabit is almost 78 years old, but the brain inside my head still feels like that of a thirty-five year-old. You can be old, but the trick is to stay immature.
ReplyDeleteI don't FEEL old. I wrote about it on my Blog today ...
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I'm officially old, over 49, like gardening, drink tea, reminisce about the old days, moan about the weather, do crosswords, have plenty of aches and pains. There's hope yet though, I don't listen to the radio nor have I succumbed to daytime TV, haha.
ReplyDeleteI feel old sometimes! Take care, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteAge is in the mind. I hate being reminded of my physical age.
ReplyDeleteNo daytime (or anytime) TV here, but I'll happily put myself in the old (and much wiser) category. I'd rather be old than young again--been there, done that, have the scars, learned the lessons :-)
ReplyDeleteI feel old when I get up off the floor! I hit 49 a few years ago, too :)
ReplyDeleteI don’t know if I’m old. Have a beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteLove it Jan. When I had my daughter in 2018 I was classed as geriatric and when I was in hospital recently with the ankle injury I was classed as young!
ReplyDeleteI'd add to that list..when you start asking for furniture for your birthday or Christmas! In Scotland we always moan about the weather and lately I've been moaning about aches and pains! Yup I am old, I feel old certainly.
Such a fun post, Jan! I'm definitely old. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm far past 49, but I answered yes to all these questions!
ReplyDeleteI do love tea!
ReplyDeleteAccording to that article, yes, I'm officially old!! Haha!!
ReplyDeleteAh yes! I've been officially old for a good many years. This gave me a chuckle, thanks Jan and all the best, Denise
ReplyDeleteI am old but don't feel as old as I am. :)
ReplyDeleteif being old is gauged by drinking tea then I think I popped out of the womb old! as for the weather, apparently if we didn't talk about we Brits wouldn't talk to anybody!
ReplyDeleteGosh, am I still alive??? I hit 54 a couple of weeks ago and pass me some tea, please (well, or a beer as we have 34C, sunny and are on holiday!).
ReplyDeletehell no...60 is the new 40!! i enjoyed this!!
ReplyDeleteI have been moaning about the weather but I don't drink tea so I can't be that old, but well past 49.
ReplyDeleteOh to be 49 again, that would be nice :) This year I actually started feeling old.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha ... I am old.
ReplyDeleteThis was a fun post, thank you!
LOL...........well I guess I am old also!!
ReplyDeleteUna encuesta interesante, me gustΓ³ conocerla. Besos.
ReplyDeleteWell I am over 49 and the weather is often a topic of conversation. Some days the aches make me feel older but each day is different. I certainly don't feel old all the time. π
