Commenting on a highly respected and qualified Doctor today.

"you are quite right and applies to all HCP - and that includes medics. One problem with doctors giving nutritional advice is that they may not be covered with their professional insurance as they have not undertaken any training! I must admit he amused me with his mumblings about his kids. He will soon learn that not allowing kids some treats will probably result in a rebellion at some point!"

The Doctors credentials were posted here today. No further comment required.

  1. Consider the source's funding and move on. What else can a person do? It is sad that what was a useful organization can be hijacked by a sugar side agenda.

  2. Hi Eddie,

You found an old version of my CV. I have two kids, now. And I have spent the last six years studying nutrition and chronic disease. I have been involved in a number of studies and am launching a couple more as we speak. I have had the privilege of being mentored by some of the leading academics in this area, people like Drs Steve Phinney, Eric Westman and Jeff Volek (who you will recognize as the authors of the latest Atkins book). Nutritionists, when they cannot argue the science, resort to this kind of broadside against the medics. Unfortunately, it is true we do not get nutrition training in our regular schooling. Some of us, however, have corrected that deficit which makes for a dangerous combination because, unlike the nutritionists, we are taught to assess the emerging evidence and reach our own conclusions. I am convinced that in nutrition school they are handed a set of stone tablets.

    Keep up the good work!

  3. Quote from Ally

"People on this forum are generally very nice but there is more to diabetes than low carb- there are many here who do not and they are just being ignored."

Of course they are being ignored Ally, and you are the biggest culprit. Why not instead of your continual harping on about the dire consequences of lowcarb don't you help those who may appreciate your 40% cals from carbs.
