"Personally all I ever wanted or want to do is help people and stop them making the same mistakes I did before I joined here." Cugila.

Read this and despair. If you have ever wondered why NHS statistics for diabetes control are so bad you have only contemplate the folly exhibited here. The ignorance is breath taking. The new member Ka-Mon joins the ranks of those dangerous to newly diagnosed diabetics. As yet no member of the forum has posted on the errors regarding BS levels after meals. It is this kind of attitude that leads to the dangerous complacency among the usual suspects on that forum.
John this study shows the folly of the nice guidelines, the patients had either normal glucose tolerance (NGT) or were pre-diabetic. 155mg/dl equates around 8.6mmol/L.
RESULTS Patients with NGT and pre-diabetes (1hPG >155 mg/dl) showed a significant increase of inflammatory markers and lipid ratios (for all, P < 0.05). In age-, sex-, and BMI-adjusted analysis, 1hPG was associated with a significantly higher WBC count and fibrinogen (P < 0.05). Patients with elevated 1hPG showed a highly significant lower insulin sensitivity than subjects <1hPG (P < 0.01).
