There's a compilation CD on the Columbia label: "Raunchy Business: Hot Nuts and Lollipops". Most of the material is from the 20s and 30s with the lyrics written to get round the white media censorship. It includes Lucille Bogan's version of "Shave 'em Dry," which contains about every double entendre there is plus Ms. Bogan clearly enjoying herself.

ReplyDeleteI don't wish to become Carbo-like (God forbid) but the phrase should be:
ReplyDelete"squeeze my lemon until ...."
As in:
Robert Johnson "Travelling Riverside Blues"
Sonny Boy Williamson "Until My Love Come Down"
and then countless ripoffs.
