DRI BioHub -- The Next Quantum Leap Toward A Biological Cure

Scientists from the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) at the University of Miami are taking a quantum leap toward a biological cure for diabetes by unveiling the DRI BioHub, a bioengineered "mini organ" that contains lifesaving insulin-producing cells that can sense blood sugar and release the precise amount of insulin needed in real time. The BioHub platform mimics the native pancreas and brings the promise of restoring natural insulin production and normalizing blood sugar levels in millions living with diabetes one step closer to reality. 1. Indeed a quantum leap, obviously in early stages with problems which will need to be addressed but isn't that is what research is all about?
However, some say it is good research whilst others may not agree. I am not a scientist but once a step is made it inevitably leads to others.Time will tell.

Could not agree more it's like 1 2 3 it is inevitable. To those who have a young child with Type 1 diabetes this could be a massive step but of course the research will take time and needs to be done with care, the correct risk assessments done. Rejection must be one of the biggest concerns.
Good to read this news though, thanks.
