I am delighted to announce that today I heard I have reduced my HbA1c from 89 to 46.

From many years of following the NHS official guidelines on the "how to control diabetes" diet and failing, four months ago I threw caution to the wind and switched to a LCHF lifestyle. Subsequently I am delighted to announce that today I heard I have reduced my HbA1c from 89 to 46. Isn't it great!!

My DN at the hospital, whilst being pleased, isn't keen for me to go lower, says it's borderline to being unsafe! After some "discussion" during which I put my case for wanting to get down to at least the mid 5s, she eventually agreed to ask my consultant if my insulin can be changed from Humalogmix 25 to a basal/bolus regime.

Hopefully this will enable me to maintain better control. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Eddie and everyone here plus a few low carbers elsewhere who have inspired and encouraged me to finally get my act together! Onwards and upwards, or should that be low wards.... hmmmm ;) xx

  1. Dear Geri,
Congratulations! It takes a lot of courage, determination and research to reject the current medical approach to diabetes. Well done and best wishes.

  2. Geri you will live no longer or healthy than someone following the NHS official guidelines on the "how to control diabetes" diet with slightly more medication, FACT.

Lowcarbers suffer in my opinion from being knowingly ignorant.

Most of the products sold in Health food shops are anything but healthy. The mind boggles at the thought of any professional outfit touching you with a ten foot pole. Has this outfit run out of human beings to employ ?

You are without doubt, the lowest form of life ever to post on this blog. Never once have you posted a scrap of useful information re diet or anything else.

You defend the NHS and it's pitiful record on controlling obesity and often linked type two diabetes, clearly you have zero idea what you are talking about.

Your comments get authorised here because they offer an insight into the complete and utter failure of outfits such as DUK and the NHS in the safe control of diabetes.

You come over here at night, and from your own admission in the past, often drunk and street medicated, and expect us to take you seriously. You are a complete moron, and as you appear to have some influence, somewhere, you are a very dangerous moron.

  5. Paul....thank you for your opinion which I choose to ignore because, and here's my opinion, although you talk a lot and it's quite entertaining, you don't make a huge amount of sense.....Have a nice day and give my love to Carmarthen ;)

That statement is a bit below the belt, DUK don't represent the NHS or anything other than their own vested interests.

There base of operations is a shabby rundown building on the outskirts of Coventry, that manned by a bunch of Asians that think us British should live of a near starvation diet based around chickpeas.

That's why your about as welcome on their site like a pork sausages at Bar Mitzvah barbecue.

I'm based in a University, Eddie. Not a run down building or like you a bedroom.

Also I like to clarify the health food chain is allowing to speak in their stores on using diet to control diabetes and other conditions.

I will be accompanied by a registered dietitian and we plan a ten store tour in the summer.

Which I will be videoing and sticking up on Youtube for peoples edification.

I'm not flogging vitamins, although I do speak highly of vitamin D, Vitamin. K2. Which I do take.

  8. Get on the case you muppet. DUK is the charity based in London, DCUK is the mob that run the forum of flog in Coventry. As I have said on numerous occasions you are clueless in just about everything other than making a complete prat of yourself.

Get your head out of your gonga and sober up lad.

You are a complete idiot and a danger to any Type 2 who has the misfortune to come into contact with you Jonesy.

Geri is on insulin thanks to the NHS official guidelines, you would have her increase her insulin, "in a Canadian population-based study in use of insulin in type 2 diabetes, reported a three-fold increase in mortality."

The mortality risk was dose dependent so the lower the insulin use the better the outcome FACT

Geri has taken a step in the right direction and is now thanks to LowCarb in the low risk category.

  18. Hey Paul....go away, (polite version). You're stealing my thunder!

Thank you all for your encouraging comments. Wish I could do the "it was hard work etc" thing, but I can't because it wasn't. In fact it was and is the easiest and most successful way I've found to tame this diabetic monster in all my 22 yrs since diagnosis as a T2.
    Kind regards,
    Geri
