Off on Holiday and so excited!

Here in the UK many, especially those with school age children, are getting ready to enjoy some summer holiday fun. Some may go abroad in the search of sunnier climes, whilst others stay in the UK.

The grandchildren are getting excited and it's lovely to see. "I've got to pack my case Grandma" ....."Me too" says the youngest. Their case packing consists of a few favourite books and toys. I always thought it a good idea to take a selection when we had our holidays with our children, and now they are following suit. I'm keeping fingers crossed that the weather is kind to them because they have planned a traditional seaside holiday .....sandcastle building, donkey rides, Punch and Judy and a whole lot more besides.

Energy will be required but then they have plenty and so they should. I know their days will start with a good breakfast as bacon, eggs, sausages are among the favourites.....good low carb high fat food! Of course a few holiday treats will be included soft ice cream in a cone with a stick of chocolate 'oh the decadence' and I'm sure mum and dad will enjoy their time away especially a relaxing drink in the evening as the 'kids' fall asleep after a fun filled day.

Holiday times are great to share and enjoy, and the memories last a long long time. I have so many happy memories of time away, I'm spoilt for choice.

Now don't forget the buckets and spades and those paper flags for all the sandcastle building.

To all who are going away on holiday - have fun,

All the best Jan

  2. The good thing about holidays is the space and freedom it allows. We can forget about work, any troubles or problems. Great to be young, to feel young, to feel free. If you can not get away perhaps take some time out.
I can remember I used to have as much fun stamping on the sandcastles at the end of the days digging as I did building them that's children I suppose.

  3. I spent 8 years living in Germany. It seemed like every Deutschlander I knew took 28 days off in August for Holiday. I don't know how the Europeans are able to pull it off ;)

  4. Sounds wonderful and...so British. We visited UK last year and I fell in love with the country, we are determined to return as it was our favourite country. The seaside towns we visited were Scarborough and Whitby, and yes I allowed myself some famous Whitby chips. The Brits make the best chips - maybe they fry them in dripping I don't know..oops shouldn't talk about chips ay. Have fun, you live in an amazing place.

  5. Hi Sue .... many thanks for your good wishes

Hi Hannah .... maybe we are of similar age I don't know, but yes I too can remember at the end of the day having fun and laughs as we used to stamp on the sandcastles. My parents also used to insist we fill in any holes in case other folks would fall or trip on the holes we'd dug

Hi Marc .... in the UK some decades ago factories would have a 'shut down' to allow for annual holidays. Many European Countries such as Germany, Italy and France I understand did the same. I am not sure if this applies today. I'm fortunate in that I can take a few days break at any time during the year, and find that a few days away can be so relaxing and uplifting. But you can't beat a family holiday and the kids/grandkids just love it. A days outing can also be magic. We owe it to ourselves to 'steal' some time to enjoy life.

Hi Jasmine .... I'm so glad you liked the UK. Do you know one of our team members lives in Whitby. My parents visited Scarborough a few years back. Great places indeed, but there are many great places to visit in the UK (as other countries), the important thing is to enjoy your life, keep healthy and fit and grab each moment in two hands. We are here for such a short space of time.

Thanks to all for reading and commenting

    Take Care and ....

    All the best Jan
