Tranquil Waters

I don't know about you but I always enjoy being near to water ... a feeling of tranquility often follows. We were fortunate to spend time near the canal with our youngest grandson, and it goes without saying - but I will - care and caution was in our mind being near water with a young child.

These next four pictures were taken from The Wyvern Shipping Company Web-Site, here, but we were fortunate to see similar scenes to this. Wyvern Shipping featured in ITV's recent canal boating series "Barging Round Britain" with John Sergeant, did you see it ... I thought it was excellent!

We love having a walk canal-side. Life is slower, people always stop to talk and there is so much to see as you walk along the canal path. Yes ... there are even great pubs to stop a while - if you so wish! I could think of far worse ways to spend an afternoon. Gongoozling is one of our most favourite past times - you can read more about that here

Of course at the end of a lovely day spending time with your youngest grandson, walking by the canal and enjoying good company what could be better than a great tasting low carb meal?

  1. Love your photos, especially the bridge with the beautiful home, and the one with the horses grazing on the hill. I have a tiny bit of water and a bridge by my home too and coincidentally, I put the photos up on my site this morning.

  5. Where I live we are surrounded by canals not far from the famous Foxton Locks. They are a great place to take a walk - very peaceful - and always plenty to look at too. Your meal looks right up my street I love a piece of fish for dinner, a great end to what looks like a lovely day.

  6. Hi Elaine and many thanks for your comment.

Foxton Locks is on my list of must go to places ...

For those who don't know " Foxton Locks are ten canal locks consisting of two "staircases" each of five locks, located on the Leicester line of the Grand Union Canal about 5 km west of the Leicestershire town of Market Harborough and are named after the nearby village of Foxton." You can read more here:

We sure had a lovely day and that meal is one of our favourites.

    Have a good weekend
