Swedish Meatballs - delicious !

What a good looking and tasty plateful Anne Aobadia prepared and cooked here. I have friends who quite regularly shop at IKEA and they always tell me, 'we just have to have some of their meatballs', can't say I've ever tasted them ... but these shown here, yum! I could definitely tuck in to this plateful ...

If you fancy giving them a try, here is what you will need:
Ingredients
Serves Four
9g carb per serving
Meatballs
½ yellow (white) onion
1 lb / 450 g ground (minced) beef, or half and half mix of ground beef and pork
4 oz. / 110 g cream cheese
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
1 pinch pepper
1 pinch ground allspice
3 tablespoons butter
Cream Sauce
1¼ cups /300 ml heavy (double) whipping cream
2 oz. /55 g cream cheese
1 tablespoon tamari soy sauce (optional)
salt and pepper
Cauliflower and lingonberries/cranberries
1 lb /450 g cauliflower

Please find recipe instructions at Diet Doctor site here

Did you know that lingonberries are a staple in Scandinavian cuisine. They grow in forested areas, and the taste is similar to cranberries, but not as bitter!

  2. I prefer to go to Ikea and eat them there! Faster, easier... : )

I do not believe I have ever eaten longberries. I will look for them.

  3. These look great. The ones they serve at IKEA are not bad, but for me a trifle under seasoned. Have a great weekend, hugs, Valerie

With thanks to google translation, this is what the words read,

'I also usually make homemade meatballs but wing mince add you chopped ham, parsley, garlic, salt and pepper. After FRY, I make a sauce of onion, tomato sauce, add wine of Montilla and when it boils dive meatballs in them leaving them to cook for a few minutes'

Many thanks for your tips and comment, always appreciated.

  7. I'm not sure if I've ever made meatballs Jan, an Italian friend of mine made the yummiest meatballs ever and I couldn't hope to top that ☺ Happy weekend.

  10. Love IKEA meatballs, suspect it's that delicious cream sauce they use.

  12. These sound good. My version always contain nutmeg, but allspice would work just as well, I'm sure.

  14. I make meatballs for himself from time to time, but like Delores, cream cheese would never occur to me as an addition.

  16. I am a vegetarian now, but I never tried the IKEA Swedish meatballs when I still ate meat- though I heard they were/are fantastic. Your recipe does sound very tasty. :)

  17. I used to love the Ikea meatballs, but after a few years of eating a healthier diet, one day I bought them again and they just weren't the same...they tasted a bit "plasticky"! So, homemade is the way to go! Thanks for the recipe Jan.

  20. My son loves lingonberries. We planted two bushes this year. Crossing our fingers all goes well with them surviving in Wisconsin.
    I pinned your recipe.
