Quote of the month.
"No society can legitimately call itself civilised if a sick person is denied medical aid because of lack of means" Nye Bevan often called the Father of the NHS (1952)

Thank goodness for our NHS x
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. In the states, the president (falsely, I might add) said that ANYONE who wanted a COVID test could get one. At that time, there weren't enough for even the desperately sick people, much less for anyone who wanted one. BTW, when the person actually DOES get a free test and is found positive, they are moved to a hospital ward and immediately charged for any and all procedures. The cost for a stay in these hospitals is astronomical, upwards of $100,000.00 (USD).
ReplyDeleteYou are very blessed to have the NHS. My husband is originally from the UK, and we talk regularly about the inhumane and dysfunctional nature of health care in the US.
ReplyDeleteI don't know where I'd be without the NHS. Thank you Mr Bevin.
ReplyDeleteI live in Washington state the first state that showed the covid at a nursing home in Kirkland many people died there..we don't go anywhere and yes we have health insurance, when I have to go to see a doctor or any specialist for my kidneys we are met with great precaution and precautions..I have been married nearly 46 years and all thru our marriage we had health insurance thru work and for just paying for it in colorful Colorado, it was always in and is for us..Our only lives in NYC her roommate is from Norway and was astounded by the lack of care for all citizens of the USA as Norway everyone gets a piece of the pie, from birth to death..she works for the UN and is amazing..I cannot phanthom a society that does not care for its citizens no I cannot not and will remember the you know who in office now come election time, where is his humanity and his backbone? no where..Enjoy your blog, keep safe and happy in this very very trying time..peace out and enjoy mother earth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteour actions should reflect our thoughts and claims
@Bluebeard and Elizabeth, COVID patients aren't all taken to the hospital--there are far more positive cases than there are hospital beds. The vast majority recover at home.
ReplyDeleteSuch sad truth.
ReplyDeleteI so agree. The U.S. insurance system is so screwed up. I'm grateful you have the NHS.
ReplyDeleteVery true!
