Scone Anyone : Low Carb : Suitable for Diabetics and Non-Diabetics

These two recipes, for low carb scones, are ideal for anyone generally trying to reduce the carbs and sugar in their life. They are suitable for both diabetics and non diabetics. Have a look at both recipes (and links) and see what you think.


LOW CARB CHEESE SCONES
a quick and simple recipe to make savoury scones
Ingredients
3 cups of ground almonds
1 cup sharp (mature) cheddar cheese finely grated
1 tbsp. baking powder
a dash of cayenne
4 eggs whisked
4 tbsp. butter melted
ground sea salt

LOW CARB SCONES
this recipe is to make scones that go with (sugar free) jam and cream,
otherwise known as Devonshire tea.
Ingredients
250 grams almond meal/ flour
2 tablespoon coconut flour
½ cup Greek yoghurt or sour cream
1 large egg
50 grams melted butter cooled
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
Pinch salt

    I read a blog ? that had a recipe from the Kitchen of the Palace that made Scones the other day. So English and so perfect.

  17. Hi Jan :) I will have some tea with my scones please. :) Actually I've been discovering some lovely herbal chai blends of tea lately. I found a chocolate orange chai, organic from the company Four O'Clock. Oh it's like drinking dessert! :) Hope you're doing well!!

This looks very tasty...but also very expensive to make. 3 cups of almonds...I went to buy almond flour late last year to make a special treat for a friend of mine who is on the Keto diet...but, as I mentioned at the time...it was far too expensive...so I changed from that particular recipe to one that used coconut flour. The latter is cheaper.

    I'll stick to wheat flour. I'm not allergic to anything (food-wise, that is)....touch wood...and hope the status quo remains.
