December - Time for the first of the month quiz - plus - A colourful Christmas Salad


As we welcome December, the twelfth and last month of the year, it's time for the first of the month quiz. I'm only asking seven questions; I hope you may have a go at answering them.

Christmas Salad
this is a colourful lunch or dinner starter
it's light and bright, and made with gorgeous smoked salmon, avocado and clementines

  8. Guessed at 1-3, no clue on 5, pretty sure I know 4,6, and 7. Fun quiz!

    Printed out the pretty salad! I can't find watercress locally but the Whole Foods in Nashville might have it. I remember when my grandmother would send me out to the creek for as much of it as she needed. What I couldn't do with a bunch of that now! Makes me think of my dear grandmother who was quite elderly when I was small as my father was the youngest of her 7 children. His brothers worked out on the farm with their father so my dad worked in the kitchen garden with his mother and he turned out to be a fabulous cook. She taught him to prepare stuffed zucchini blossoms way back in the early 1930s when restaurants might not have even been doing it then.

    I guess this is a sample of why food is so tied to memory, right, Jan? Your recipe did it for me!
