It's March 2023

Time to say goodbye to February as we welcome March.

I'm always pleased when the 1st of March is here because it's nice to think that Spring is just around the corner. The daffodils are springing up well and many are showing their lovely colourful, cheerful heads - here are some for you, and by the way Happy St David's Day too.

“March” is named for the Roman god of war, Mars. This was the time of year to resume military campaigns that had been interrupted by winter.

March’s full Moon, the Worm Moon, reaches peak illumination on the morning of Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Look for it in the evening of Monday, March 6, as the Moon rises above the horizon! Why is it called the Worm Moon? Find out here

March often brings rain and mud! Sprinkle salt on carpets to dry out muddy footprints before vacuuming!

The flower of March is the daffodil.

There are two zodiac signs in March. Pisces, which is until March 20th, and Aries which is from the 21st.

Every year, March and June finish on the same day of the week.

6th of March is White Chocolate Cheesecake Day
so in readiness of celebration, here is recipe for a low carb

  1. Well, it's still February over here (for another 4 hours anyway). Daffodils are in full bloom, several weeks early because of the warm weather we've had (with little snow this winter)

  23. Oh, what a cheerful blog post, Jan! The cake looks delicious, but they don't like fruit here, so I would make a white cake without any red stuff, with whipped cream on it, later. Sometimes I add a splash of liqueur to it.

Happy March! I can already see some daffodils popping up here and there in the Netherlands, but we still have to wait a few weeks for the tulips. Have a nice day!

  25. Hey, I learned many interesting things here!
I didn't know there was a cheesecake day! Is there any culinary calendar at all where I can see what day what sweets is dedicated to?
I wish you a beautiful and fragrant month of March!
By the way, the daffodils are beginning to bloom in Bulgaria, and today I came across a single meadow with violets!
