Five Random Facts That May Amaze You !

Goodness me, it's the weekend again! The days of the week seem to go by so quickly. Today, for a change I'm sharing five random facts that may amaze you!
  • There is an average of 50,000 spiders per acre in green areas.
  • Some male songbirds sing more than 2,000 times each day.
  • For every human in the world there are one million ants.
  • If you keep a goldfish in a dark room, it will become pale!
  • The sentence “The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog.” uses every letter of the alphabet.
Did you (like me) check that last fact out?
Whatever your plans are this weekend I wish you a good one, and invite you to enjoy (a virtual) slice of low carb Italian Lemon Cake, see the recipe here

This blog is presented in a magazine style - we hope something for everyone. You will find a variety of articles, studies, thoughts, photographs, music and recipes! However, not all the recipes ideas featured in this blog may be suitable for you. If you may have any food allergies, or underlying health issues these must always be taken into account. If you are a diabetic and not sure how certain foods may affect your blood sugars, test is best, i.e. use your meter.

All the best Jan

Amazing facts!!

The pangram that I remember (in Portuguese, before the letters K, W and Y were added to the alphabet) is:

“Jovem craque belga prediz falhas no taxi” – literal translation: “Young Belgian star predicts failures in taxi” . : )

Since I have been into baking for a few weeks now, and considering I have all the ingredients for this cake, I will make it tonight. It’s only 8.20 pm!!

Have a pleasant weekend!

Jan,
What a fun and fascinating read to kick off the weekend! These facts are absolutely intriguing—I had no idea about the sheer number of spiders per acre or that goldfish could change color based on their environment. And yes, I definitely had to check the "quick brown fox" sentence; it’s always an interesting tidbit for typists and language enthusiasts alike! It’s little gems like these that make your blog a delightful discovery. Thanks for the virtual slice of Italian Lemon Cake, it sounds deliciously refreshing! Have a fantastic weekend, and keep these interesting posts coming!

That alphabet sentence is amazing. 69 years on this planet and I'd never read such a thing.
Thanks for the amusement.

Knew the one about the letters in those words using every letter in the alphabet..
Amazing about the ants, we are truly outnumbered.

So long as the spiders stay outside, I'm happy.

I really didn't need to know the spider fact!!! 🕷 🕸 🕷
Didn't need to check the alphabet sentence as we used that phrase when learning to touch type as it made us hit every key at least once.

Eeek! Spiders! A sentence that uses every letter of the alphabet is called a pangram. Have a great weekend.

Fun post, but I could do without the spiders! Happy weekend!

I did not know all that but I do believe the ant one, every spring since we have lived here we get a lot of ants and I have to go around killing them and having ant traps.
Have a great weekend!

Hello there and many thanks for your comment and question.

Natvia is a natural sweetener derived from both the stevia plant and monk fruit.
You can read more about sweeteners here:-
https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/sweeteners

You can adapt this recipe to use your preferred sweetener and what is available in your local stores.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

All the best Jan

I did know about all the letters being in that sentence. It was used when I was learning how to type in high school.

Hello Catarina
Many thanks for both your comments.
As you know I first posted this recipe back in 2019 (where do the years go?).
So pleased you were able to make the cake in 2024!

Thanks for sharing the Portuguese pangram.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

All the best Jan
