Brrr it's turned cold!

What's the weather been like where you live? Many of us in the UK are feeling the cold! It's been snowing in many areas ... great fun for the young and the young at heart 😊 but if you are out driving or just walking care should be taken. Both the images I've used are from a few years ago, they always make me smile.

I'm also smiling at the thought of a warming vegetable stew. Stews are not all about meat! With this versatile vegetable stew; you can add any veg you like. Just add root veg and squash at the beginning, green veg towards the end and frozen peas or sweetcorn at the last minute. Adding baked beans adds a little sweetness, plus fibre and protein. You can see the recipe details here

This blog brings a variety of articles and recipe ideas, and it is important to note, not all may be suitable for you. If you may have any food allergies, or underlying health issues these must always be taken into account. If you are a diabetic and not sure how certain foods may affect your blood sugars, test is best, i.e. use your meter. If you have any concerns about your health, it is always advisable to consult your doctor or health care team.

All the best Jan

  1. Your jolly snowman would make a delightful card!
I just bought a soup maker so will be putting it to good use starting tomorrow. Meanwhile, I am wrapped up in a knee length, sherpa lined hoodie!
Bracing for Bert who I'm sure is gathering momentum already, by the noise in the chimney.
Stay indoors if you can and keep warm! Debbie

  8. Friday early and still dark here and turned cold yesterday and will be colder today. There may be frost overnight. We live in the South, so no snow where we live. That is a rare occurrence. We don't even drive in the rain, so home a lot for us. Pretty horse and happy snowman!

  11. It's the last cold day here as tomorrow the temperature will rise substantially, so we're told. Adding baked beans to a vegetable stew sounds a brilliant idea.

  12. It's cold here, too. Had a dusting of snow night before last, hail showers yesterday, some sleet today and now some rain and snow mix. Tonight it's going to warm up and Storm Bert is going to blow in bringing rain and high winds. That stew looks like the perfect thing for this kind of weather!

  22. Stay warm. After a warm first half of November, things have turned cold here and this morning I woke to a dusting of snow. But with freezing temperatures and strong winds, no one wants to stay outside very long.
