Exact date you should put your Christmas tree up and it's before December!

Yes, Christmas is coming and it's definitely starting to look and feel Christmassy! In the UK many cities, towns and villages are busy preparing for Christmas, and the shop windows are looking nice and Christmassy.

I'm planning on getting the Christmas decorations out of their box this weekend. Have you any decorations up yet? Perhaps your tree is already up and lit?

"The exact date you should put your Christmas tree up in 2025 was recently revealed (you may already know it) it's not in December as you might expect.

A Christmas tree is likely one of the first things that comes to mind when considering the festive season, with the tradition originating from Germany.

Christmas trees were introduced to England during the Georgian era, under the reign of King George III. His wife, Charlotte, who was German, is thought to have decorated a tree for her family in the 1790s.

However, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert are often credited with popularising the decoration of a tree at Christmas, leading many to believe they started the tradition in Britain.

Initially, people had small trees that they placed on their tables, but when larger trees from Norway became available, they began placing their trees on the floor, with presents underneath.

The timing for putting up the tree can be a contentious issue, as some prefer the start of December, while others opt for the 13th - twelve days before Christmas. However, according to tradition, Christmas trees should go up at the beginning of Advent, the fourth Sunday before Christmas.

This year, the first day of Advent falls on Sunday, November 30. On this day, some Christians attend special church services, with some churches offering a Christingle service for children and families.

the meaning of Christingle can be read here

At a Christingle service, each child is given or holds a Christingle. Some people write or send their Christmas cards, while others prepare a Christmas cake or Christmas pudding."
Words above taken from article seen here

Of course in the midst of all the Christmas preparations, please take time to sit down and enjoy a refreshing cuppa - will it be tea or coffee?

That's interesting. We used to always put ours up the day after Thanksgiving, but this year we broke with tradition and it's already up!

I always thought it was Prince Albert who brought the Christmas tree to England. I am planning on putting mine up this weekend. Having moved this year I am not sure where the tree will go so there might have to be some furniture removing first.

Thank you for this lovely post about setting up the Christmas tree! I've decorated it now, and all I need now is some snowflakes and rain, then it would be perfect!

I bought a mini Christmas-tree on Wednesday! And I have Christmas decorations on all year round. Just a wee bit no one notices... Now you made me want to look for mini-decorations for the tree!

Why can't they invent decorations that put themselves up automatically?
God bless.

Sonme years our Christmas tree didn't appear until Christmas Eve! Latterly, I' ve tried to have it up by the beginning of the month. The bright lights are cheery on a dark morning.

Both my Christmas trees go up right after Halloween each year. Halloween goes down. Christmas comes out. We love it and it gives us two whole months of Christmas Cozy Goodness. I say, people should do what they want and when they want. 100 percent.

I'll have to wait. I'm still cleaning up. Though I will have the Advent tree ready to go.

Am I the only one who still buys a fresh tree? I would LOVE to put my tree up this weekend but it would be dead by Christmas :(

Well, I am a stickler to get mine up right before Thanksgiving. I do not know why! I think because I love this season so much and want to prolong it as much as possible. Anyhootie- happy holidays!

I put mine up the first week of November.

I know people who have their trees up already. We don't celebrate so I don't have to worry about it.

Dear Jan!
A wonderful post about decorating your Christmas tree for Advent.
Thank you so much. I haven't bought a Christmas tree yet. I'll make a wreath and buy flowers for the first Sunday of Advent.
Sending hugs and greetings.

I think the most we'll do for seasonal decorations is the giant Poinsettia that was just delivered.

We don't have a tree, but my decorations went up this morning. I was drinking coffee then and currently have a hot cup of tea in front of me.

Such a lovely post. I'm afraid that our tree will be a bit late getting up this year. I've had a busy week and tomorrow I do plan to collect and put away all of our fall decor, but I won't attempt to get any of the Christmas things out until the first part of next week.

Interesting reading about Christmas trees. I don't have any set time. Just sometime during the first week of Dec whenever I get motivated to do it. :)

I'm going to put up my Christmas tree 🎄 and decorate the house on Monday. I was supposed to put it up tomorrow, but I can't because it's my husband's birthday and we're going out to celebrate.

As I try to avoid Christmas, no tree for me.

For years I have always set up our tree the weekend after Thanksgiving but more and more it takes me longer to take down all the Autumn decorations and get the house all dusted and vacuumed to be ready to set up the Christmas decorations, so I am hoping by the end of this week I will have all our decorations up and running :). My go to drink for the holidays is hot chocolate :)

We shall be putting all our Christmas decorations up on 1st Deember. Although I know that Advent begins on the 30th November this year, I couldn't quite allow myself that extra day. Silly I know, but I shall enjoy them when they are up this week.
