summer garden
So many find that gardening can be a source of relaxation, comfort and enjoyment, it can also be hugely beneficial to mental health. Time and time again many of us find that connecting with plants and the environment can help with a natural route to wellbeing.
I think spending time in a garden, whether it be digging, planting, tidying, walking or just sitting a while can bring happiness. Even if the weather is not favourable, as some of us may be experiencing, spending time sitting in your armchair looking at flowers, plants, and trees either in a book, magazine or the internet can bring enjoyment ... would you agree?
Of course, for me, after gardening, or indeed just sitting in the garden a cuppa is always welcome... and perhaps as a treat a slice of low carb ginger cake, you can see the recipe here

Yes, April 22nd is Earth Day, Jan! And this photo is absolutely stunning!
So true! We've just come in from wandering around our yard, which is something we do most every evening at this time of year. It's a joy to watch things come up and bloom. So far it's just our flowers, but when it gets a little nicer, we'll plant some tomatoes, peppers, herbs... They are so good!
That is a good saying, Jan. I love a garden but don't care to do it - I just fiddle.
I love being in the garden, with happy hens mooching about. Luckily where I live I also have the company of quendas (small marsupials) and lots of native birds and ducks who visit daily. Happiness overload.
Hello Jan :)
What better way of celibrating "World Earth Day" than sitting in a garden appreciating the trees and flowers or going for a walk in a park. or even planting a tree. I do agree with you Jan that flowers bring you joy, except for the poor people who suffer from pollen allergies- The garden picture is gorgeous.
Have a happy week
All the best
Sonjia.
All we have is a balcony, but that´s pretty close, too :-) To honoring Mother Earth.
A garden, a park, a wood, a stream - any and all of these things and more are good for the soul.
Gardening can be hard work. But fun.
God bless.
What a gorgeous garden! Flowers bring such joy.
That is a gorgeous garden. And it made me smile. Hope you are having a great day Jan.
...amen to this!
Happy Earth Day, Jan!
Beautiful garden. I love flowers too.
Yes, I do agree with all this information! Gardening is so rewarding and just being outside lifts one’s spirits.
I agree with everything you said here about gardening and happiness. I find it to be both hard work but relaxing all in the same time frame. :) I had planned to enjoy some "happiness" today, but the weather is rather rainy and wet, so I will just scrub my kitchen floor on hands and knees instead. :) Now I am off to find that recipe for the ginger cake!
Lovely post. It's certainly been good for my head, heart and soul. xx
Happy Earth Day ... oh yes, you know my love for gardening.
xo
Jan, a cup of tea contemplating our garden, the result of having planted a seed, is a treat for the soul.
You know something? Last year I rooted mandarin seeds, and today I already have some small plants that, with only 4 leaves, make me happy.
Will they bear fruit? I don't know.
So true, I agree Jan.
oooh i forgot...my gardens make me very happy!! i say, "he who plants a garden believes in the future"!!! have a great day!!
Happy Earth Day!
I'm not very good at gardening (except in pots!) but I do love a garden. They are so peaceful and lovely!
Happy Earth Day Jan :-D
I have some very dear friends who are gardeners, whether flowers, veg, or both. I'll be having some veg growing in containers this year. A friend will be doing the flowers around our cottage. Happy Earth Day, Jan--hope you enjoyed a nice cuppa or two!
Oh yes I agree with it all. :)
So true. A lovely photo and post.
I agree. I wish we could have a garden here but we can't.
So true, a lovely post.
Tina
Beautiful garden, I just spent time out in my garden today, mostly weeding and getting ready to plant more veggies and flower seeds :)
Great post ( Of course I liked it. It concerns flowers.)
