The last weekend of May 2026 !

It's been said many times before ... but where do the days, weeks and months go? They seem to fly by and now here we are it's the last weekend of May 2026. Whatever your plans are I do wish you peace and happiness this weekend.

I'm sharing these beautiful peony blooms, I hope you like them. Peonies are often described as aristocratic plants and only have a brief but keenly anticipated flowering in late spring to early summer. They are bowl-shaped, white, cream, pink, yellow or red flowers which look so beautiful and are often spicily scented.

All the best Jan

  11. Being spicily scented I wonder if peonies are related to carnations which is where cloves come from I think.

  12. Well I just googled and no they do not. Cloves come from the Indonesian evergreen native Syzygium Aromaticum tree.

  21. Whenever I see peonies I'm reminded of the time over 20 years ago when we were moving into a house in a town where a good friend lived. We were coming from Alaska and the friend had looked at the house for us, so we bought it sight unseen. She had the keys when we got to town and she'd put a gorgeous arrangement of big blooming peonies on the built-in bookshelves so they were the first things we saw when we walked into the house. I can still see them in my mind. I think peonies will always be associated with that memory for me :-) I hope June begins in a wonderful way for you, Jan, and goes on that way throughout the month and beyond :-)
