Serves One
1 small swede/rutabaga/turnip, peeled and diced
½ head broccoli, cut into florets
1 tin salmon in spring-water or 100g (3 ½ oz) fresh salmon fillet, skinned and de-boned
125ml (4 fl. oz/ ½ cup) almond or coconut milk
freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
Method
1. Cook the *swede/rutabaga/turnip (see tip) and broccoli in a saucepan of boiling water for 8 – 10 minutes or until tender. Drain and set aside.
2. If using fresh salmon, put the salmon in a small frying pan over medium heat and pour over the almond milk. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 7 minutes or until the salmon is just cooked.
3. Place the salmon, with the almond milk it was cooked in, and the cooked vegetables in a food processor and pulse to your desired consistency. If you prefer a smoother consistency, add more almond milk. If you prefer a chunkier version, omit the processing step and simply mix everything together in a bowl... see note below.
4. Serve with a grind of black pepper - it just adds to the taste!
Note
A chunkier version (which I prefer) is good, but see for yourself which you'd rather have!
Tip
* Needs to be tender - so do check

There are many dishes that are suited for bowls. Much easier to manage for some of us.
This sounds great, we just had some salmon and broccoli. I eat most of my meals in a bowl, it's just easier. Ten years ago I found this big bowl at a charity shop and have been using it since then.
Looks good and healthy too. :). Pretty flowers.
Gracias por la receta. Te mando un beso.
Looks quite tasty!
the bowle is very good!!!
wonderful flowers, thank you, jan!
hugs Elke
This recipe is wonderful. Eating from a bowl is more relaxed, somehow.
That would be ok. We don't often eat in a bowl it's harder to cut the meat as in roasts, chops, poultry legs as so on, but once in a while the food is good in a bowl, Jan.
I am not a fan of Salmon, the taste is too strong for me, I would have to substitute a different fish. Maybe Snapper or Barramundi.
Otra receta que tiene que estar exquisita.
Gracias por compartir.
Saludos,
It does sound healthy, thanks for sharing.
Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.
We often use bowls and Ingo even fish :-)
What a great idea. I'll be trying this--just got some salmon yesterday. Thanks, Jan!
We often use bowls for meals. Sometimes a meal is better contained this way especially if it has a more liquid consistancy. I agree that other meals just look better in a bowl, like your salmon and broccoli. It looks delicious and perfect for a sunny day like it is today.
...the two make a great combination.
Dear Jan, we are BIG on bowls here in fact, we mostly eat from them. Then there are the bowl plate combo sorta where it's a wider flatter bowl. LOOOOVE bowls. And also BIG cups/mugs that I eat food outta with spoons. Also LOVE broccoli and salmon. Delightful combo.
That sounds great. and I love eating out a bowl. It's less messy. :) Thanks for the pretty bouquet too. Hope you're having a super Tuesday Jan.
That would be tasty!
Never heard of the combination between salmon and broccoli. I will give it a try, although it's not easy to purchase broccoli in June.
Jan, this sounds so good. I will definitely be giving it a try soon. I'm always looking for salmon recipes.
This is something I would eat. Thanks for the recipe.
That sounds delicious.
Thanks for the great and healthy recipe!
Evening greetings with rain!
A delicious looking recipe and what a pretty flower arrangement. Lovely! Enjoy your day Jan :) all the best, Denise
Dear Jan, this looks scrumptious and wholesome! Lovely flowers, too.
Dear Jani agree that some dishes are suitable for the bowl,we use bowls when dish is of gravy mostly to avoid spills
This one looks so delicious 👌
Thanks for sharing
This looks like a delicious meal that would be quick to prepare. We do enjoy bowl meals sometimes, although I do prefer things separate on my plate.
I had salmon tonight but not in a bowl but I do use them sometimes.
We just got back from visiting my sister in law and she made a broccoli salad one of the days we were there, but no salmon
Parece una buena receta. Besos.
