“I always laugh when I read these scientific reports. Obviously, a low carb diet will result in better BGs and HbA1c. It's just stating the obvious. But, it's still good to have a research paper to show ignorant diabetes healthcare teams.
My child's "diabetic dietician" told me he "can eat whatever he wants, as there is no such thing as a diabetic diet now days. If you want to eat McDonalds, then go right ahead." That is literally what she said. It's almost too bizarre to be true.”

"Old Dogma: People with type 2 diabetes should follow a low carb diet. New Reality: Nutrition recommendations for people with type 2 diabetes from the American Diabetes Association and other health authorities echo the recently unveiled U.S. 2010 Dietary Guidelines (1/31/11) for carbohydrate : about 45 to 65 percent of calories. (Americans currently eat about 45 to 50 percent of calories as carbohydrate--not a "high carb" intake.)" Hope Warshaw RD, CDE

Healthcare these days is a postcode lottery. You are better reading up your self on articles that concern your health issues. You are then better equipped.

I started low-carbing as a result of a casual chat wih a dietician while waiting to see someone else.
She told me that "The magic word is "carbs" This made sense of a recommendation from a GP {with a nod and a wink} to "eat meat and eggs"
Its a crime such informaion is hidden and HCPs terrified to pass it on.I think things may be improving slightly now .
I read Franziska’s blog and really like what she has to say. I just wonder how much longer we will have to wait before all dieticians at least inform people with weight problems and diabetes about the low carb alternative. I know it may not suit everyone but if people are at least told about it they could give it a try what harm can it do?

This is terrible I would have thought it better to reduce blood sugar levels and so reduce the amount of insulin needed to counteract eating the wrong type of food.A reduction in carbohydrate reduced my bloodsugar levels
