Jan and I are active gongoozlers !

No gongoozlerling is not some deviant sexual practice, or a fad diet. It is a term for people that like watching narrow boat activity on canals and we love it. My fishing club has fishing rights on a stretch of the Grand Union Canal. When I am not fishing we often walk along the canal. It's always on very level ground and the walk suits a couple of old geriatrics like us. Try it sometime, join the gongoozlers, you could do worse.

    I own a narrow boat, that just happens to be moored on the Grand Union.

    However the whole experience has been marred by the sudden arrive of east Europeans on unlicensed floating sheds who just shit directly in to the canal.

    Nothing like a turd or the fly ridden carcass of a dead dog floating by to but you off your lunch.

    Unfortunately its FACT, the idyllic lifestyle that was once synonymous with the ownership of a narrow boat is NO MORE.

    You wait until that bridge has got graffiti in foreign languages all over it and that cottage has had it window put through.

    Then tell me I'm posting crap.

    As I can assure you that carcass and turds along with a tidal wave of shantty boats is heading down the Grand Union and coming to a toe path near you.
