The Carpenters : Close To You : Saturday Night Music

Once again it's Saturday Night and that means music night on this blog. Going back to the 1970's here with The Carpenters performing 'Close To You'. They were an American vocal and instrumental duo consisting of siblings Karen and Richard Carpenter. Together, they produced a distinctively soft musical style, later becoming one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Karen sadly died in 1983 ... but here please enjoy 'Close To You' performed in 1971. This video alone has had over 39 million views - their music was and still is popular. All the best Jan

  15. Very few singers have ever match Karen Carpenter's beautiful, clear voice. A tragic loss in that she could still be with us and put the rest of the current crop of "singers" to shame.

  16. Karen...A tortured soul with the voice of an angel and a bloody good drummer too which some may not know...I was about 6 or 7 when Karen died but already by then,I had listened to my parents Carpenters LP's many, many times whilst others my age would mock me for not listening to 'Trendy' music-I didn't care, good music is where you find it and without a doubt they knocked out some damn good ballads!
