Start The Week With Some Trivia - Did You Know ?

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you had an enjoyable weekend. Have your tea or coffee cup at the ready and sit down, have a read and see if you know any of these ten randomly chosen facts.

The flashes of coloured light you see when you rub your eyes are called "phosphenes".

Iceland does not have a railway system.

Forrest Fenn, an art dealer and author, hid a treasure chest in the Rocky Mountains worth over 1 million dollars. It still has not been found.

The world’s largest grand piano was built by a 15-year-old in New Zealand, The piano is a little over 18 feet long and has 85 keys – 3 short of the standard 88.


Violin bows are commonly made from horse hair.

Octopuses and squids have beaks. The beak is made of keratin – the same material that a bird’s beak, and our fingernails are made of.

    Not good for a potential tourist.
    It reminds me I got unpleasantly surprised when in Belgrade, city without a Metro (it was planned only).Big disadvantage!

  15. Maybe 300,000 who live in Iceland don't need railroads because they can travel by motor snow sled from November to April :-)
    Interesting recipe of the coffee and pumpkin spice. Easy to think how much money Gennaro Pelliccia earns, considering the high priced insurance that Costa Coffee has been paying since 2009.

    I have found more about this treasure, read below, and have given a link to the Wikipedia page. I have also edited the post.

    The Fenn Treasure was a cache of gold and jewels that Forrest Fenn, an art dealer and author from Santa Fe, New Mexico, hid in the Rocky Mountains of the United States. It was found approximately a decade later in 2020 in Wyoming, by an anonymous treasure hunter later revealed to be former journalist and medical student Jack Stuef. In attempting to honour what he perceives to be Fenn's wishes after his death in September 2020, he has refused to reveal the location of the treasure.

  28. Hi Jan, I knew the man who found the treasure was from the east coast of the U.S., but I was unaware of the Wikipedia page. According to the man who found it, he had followed the clues left in the poem Fenn wrote. Thanks for this update.
