1. Banging your head against a wall for one hour burns 150 calories.
Perhaps not to be recommended!
A much safer way to burn 150 calories is to take your dog for a 45-minute walk. However, if you don’t have a dog, a slow-paced walk for 53 minutes will also burn off the same amount of calories.
The average person produces roughly one ounce (30 ml) of saliva every hour. That’s 24.3 ounces (720 ml) or one full wine bottle’s worth of saliva a day, which is an average of 69 gallons (263 liters) per year.
With the average global life expectancy being about 72 years, this means that you produce an average of 4,968 gallons (18,936 liters) of saliva in your lifetime – enough to fill 50 bathtubs!
That’s how important recycling is! In fact, recycling an aluminum can into a new one takes only 5% of the energy required to produce one normally.
The average person has the chance to recycle 25,000 cans in their lifetime – that’s 75,000 hours of television!
The simple measurements made the recipe easy to remember. Few people could read back then, so an easy-to-remember recipe was key.
The earliest recipe for pound cake is found in the English cook book The Art of Cookery by Hannah Glasse, published in 1747. The first U.S. cookbook, American Cookery, published in 1796, also has a recipe for pound cake.
One pound of each ingredient would’ve made the cake big enough to feed multiple families. The portions were adjusted over time to make the cakes smaller and lighter, but the name stayed the same.

I liked the pound cake info!
Interesting that crows can distinguish and remember people. That would suggest impressive brains.
Definitely better to enjoy a walk then keep banging your head!
The pound cake looks nice.
Have a good week Jan.

Hello Liam and thank you for your comment.
Yes, crows possess cognitive abilities that rival those of primates and even young children in some tasks.

This was fun:) I swear I know some two-legged crows:)
Crows always arrive here on Sunday nights because they know trash day is Monday morning. However, holidays confuse them!
I love ❤️ all these facts, Jan. Crows and ravens are in the Corvid family of bird species and are very intelligent and have great memories.
I did not know any of them. I liked them all - my favorite was all the information about the pound cake. I thought it was very interesting.
Gracias por los datos. Te mando un beso.
For us humans it not good for us to hold grudges
I never knew any of these facts, but the one about crows holding a grudge did not surprise me :)
Didn't know any of those and I certainly won't be banging my head against the wall...lol
Curiosidades interessantes! Gostei! Ótima semana!
beijos praianos, chica
Crows don't have bird brains! They are well educated and pass on information to each other.
God bless.
Fascinating facts. I knew the one about crows. I am particularly fond of the corvid family. Interesting about pound cake - it makes sense.
My head hurts just thinking about banging it the wall, lol.
The pound cake looks yummy.
Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.
I have a friend who goes to a weekly trivia night. I will forward this to him.
...I knew about the pound cake!
Fun facts. I love pound cake.
I knew about the pound cake but the rest is new to me!
I prefer the safer way to burn calories.
Crows are like humans then… some love to hold grudges for life.
Let’s recycle more cans.
I love pound cake and will attempt to make it in the near future.
I´ll skip #1... #2 I knew but #3 hola!
I'd heard about crows and had a vague idea about the pound cake, but the others are very interesting, especially about the recycling. Thanks for sharing. Avril xx

Interesting about the pound cake, didn't know that. Wow that's a lot of saliva!!! :)
I take a brisk 90 minute walk each morning. I new that about the crows. The ones I see in town I always talk to. :)
I am so happy you shared the pound cake trivia. ;-) I am going to pass it on, because pound cake is a favorite around here.
Thank you for the fun facts and delicious looking recipe!
I knew about the pound cake, but not the others--what a fun post!
I knew everything except the saliva. Hmm very interesting.
Crows are wonderful birds. I love them so much. Haha yes might not be the best way to burn calories along with brain cells! OUCH!
lolololol. These were fun, Jan. I did know about the pound cake. Funny post. Really enjoyed reading through them. Thank you.
yummy cake
Jan, dieting is less painful than hitting your head against the wall. Don't you think?
Hugs
I knew the one about pound cake but not the others. Wow, that's a lot of saliva.
Fun and fascinating facts!
I think I will pass on the banging of my head, LOL. I had heard about the crow thing. I think our cat alone produces that much saliva when you are petting him first thing in the morning :) I am a big recycler, so that makes me feel good that maybe some of it is going to good use. Wow the first pound cakes must have been huge, but nice you wouldn't have to think about how much to put in, I wonder how many eggs equal a pound.

"I wonder how many eggs equal a pound"
Hello Connie many thanks for your comment and question.
A pound of eggs is typically about 8 to 9 large eggs, as a single large egg weighs just under 2 ounces. For a traditional pound cake, a pound each of flour, butter, sugar, and eggs is used, making the number of eggs a variable based on their size.
If you were making an 'original pound cake' then the most accurate method for precise baking, would be to weigh the eggs in the shell and crack them into a bowl, adding them until you reach exactly one pound.
All the best Jan
