  1. I don't really see a problem in using this stuff, it's been around for many years.

    Cellulose is of course in all plant matter - going from small amounts in seaweed and more in trees that need it to stiffen their structures. That's why seaweed is floppy when it's taken out of water.

    Carboxymethylcellulose (known as CMC) is not absorbed or digested and is harmless.

    You will see the odd alarmist mis-interpretation of the health and safety documentation. This only refers to the powdered form used in manufacturing processes. It is dangerous to inhale the dry form which consumers never encounter.

    It is used as a lubricant in eye drops and also as an artificial slime in many dechlorinating water treatments used for aquariums.
