Nigel has insulin to keep down the very rapidly rising blood glucose these cereals will bring about for the average non insulin using diabetics.The GI is a minefield for most and cannot be relied upon. Thanks for posting that video.
I tried to follow the GI/L way for several years before diagnosis but eventually came to the same conclusions as Barry Groves.

I think history may well view it as a step along the way and certainly makes anyone who tries to follow it very much aware of their diet, but it is almost a full time job trying to follow it properly, for the reasons shown in the video. It would probably do more harm than good to any diabetic following it without constant testing.

I imagine that anyone who claims to be successful in controlling diabetes in this way is,in fact, low carbing but reluctant to cut out certain foods, yet Drs recommend this diet to diabetics. At least it recognises the importance of carbs in the condition although there are so many variables and caveats that most people would not have the time to even attempt it.

This brings me back in time to a very relevant thread that was started by Eddie on a forum and the title being..."Cereal get real people ! " and aint it the truth ! What well controlled diabetic on non or minimal meds would eat such crap ?

Typical of noblehead poking his nose in a T2 thread, he hasn't a clue about the effects of cereals our BGs.

I well remember phoenix another insulin dependent who was pushing the low GI benefits of porridge for us T2s, when pushed about the resultant high BGs her answer was that we like her could go on a four mile run after breakfast!

As far as I and many other well controlled T2s are concerned a carb is a carb be it low GI or high GI.

Pity Paul doesn't spend time trying to resurrect ETYM rather than making snide comments here and challenging Mods and members on DCUK.

Paul put a great deal of time and effort into trying to keep things going on ETYM.

Almost single-handedly at times. He has also helped many people on DCUK. We can all only speak from our own experiences and maybe bring relevant information to the attention of others. Paul uses his experience in that way. The poster obviously feels free to read and comment upon other places. The same freedom is available to Paul.

Maybe you should spend your time getting a life rather than making snide comments about Paul whilst hiding behind the cowardly anon tag.

It's not down to Paul to resurrect the ETYM forum that responsibility is down to the board members who seem to have gone AWOL.

"Challenging the mods and members" Paul as a member of DCUK has every right to join in any debate he chooses his opinion is just as valid as anyone, as for the mods I never allowed them to intimidate me nor should Paul, most of them but not all are just ego trippers.
