Quote of the month

"The issue for Americans is whether we will renew and strengthen the culture which has historically defined us as a nation or whether this country will be torn apart and fractured by those determined to undermine and destroy the European, Christian, Protestant, English culture that has been the source of our national wealth and power and the great principles of liberty, equality, and democracy that have made this country the hope for people all over the world. That is the challenge confronting us in the first years of the twenty-first century."

Samuel Huntington 1999

...I'm afraid that too many of us have never learned from history.

Agree with Tom's comment.

And please believe me...it is not the Americans. It is the President and his minions who are creating such a challenge. We Americans value our relationship with the UK. You are our most important ally and we sincerely hope this current doofus we have as President will not destroy that relationship.

A sad state of affairs, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Mr. Huntington obviously thinks his own kind is superior. I would not be so conceited; it blinds you to seeing the broader world.

culture does have a role in the advancement of a nation.
but then so does geography, imagine countries with large deserts or mountainous areas where agriculture would be impossible.
also i feel some people are not so interested in material advancement.
those countries that are advanced should stop poking their nose in the affairs of other weaker countries.
the middle east is a mess because of many years of interference from usa, uk and france. these three are also major arms suppliers to the region.
