Saturday night again and music night again already. Being a diabetic, I have a good reason to fear going blind, diabetes is the leading cause of working age people going blind in the UK. But hey, I am past working age, and now retired. Going deaf maybe has a greater fear for me these days, because music has been one of the loves of my life.
Around forty years ago I started a new job, after a weeks introduction, I received my new company car, the first new car I had ever driven. This car had a stereo cassette player. It was a long drive home, and I had taken a cassette of this track to play on the way home. Total trivia, but forty years on, it means much to me.

ReplyDeleteLosing my music is. a harsh reality. I lost my hearing in my left ear to 120db at the age of 7. It was from the mumps. After each child my hearing was worse. I find hearing aids hopeless. I have blue tooth aid to send sound to my right ear but my mother lost it. ten though I paid a lot for the aids the so called noise reduction in crowds etc is false advertising.

A cassette player? I still have one of those Eddie. I never use it now but I think I will get it out, clean it up and see what the grandkids make of it. Not much I guess.
ReplyDeleteHAHA...although I did not have a car with it in there, 8 tracks came before the cassettes! But yes, I had that car that had the cassette player in it, nice moving on to CDs, easy to carry and easier to organize in one little fold out carrier. However, I really don't carry them anymore since finding a radio station that focus on the 60s and 70s music! I never turn the radio off. I only basically carry the Christmas CDs at this time of yr but there again, the radio stations do play a nice mix. My CDs are good for listening to that one artist. I might, maybe, I don't know if I do or not have a few cassettes still hanging around!!
