Will Monday Be An Ordinary Day ?

Many thanks to everyone who has commented on my previous two posts about the very bad storms the UK has been experiencing recently. Unfortunately we now have another one making its way towards the British Isles and in fact some areas are already experiencing the very strong winds and flooding Storm Franklin is bringing. Franklin is the third storm to hit the UK in a week, and follows the disruption from Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice. The Met Office has warned of high winds which could cause further power cuts, transport delays and damage to properties.

I know the UK have experienced bad storms in the past but I cannot remember having so many in such a short space of time. In fact the Met Office have said that this was the first time three major storms have been recorded in a week since the naming system was introduced seven years ago. Apparently at the moment we've got a really active jet stream, which is why we're seeing so many storms track right towards the UK.

The UK is not the only country to be experiencing these storms as Ireland, The Netherlands, Germany and many more are also experiencing this extreme weather.

Going to bed last night I was thinking ... please may we just have an ordinary day on Monday. I know us Brits are well known for talking about the weather, and we do, but ordinariness can sometimes be a good thing 😊

So (hopefully) my ordinary day will start with a cup of tea

enjoy a leisurely breakfast
Cheese-Crusted Omelette is nice
more details here

I may do a little dusting or ironing

or maybe sit down with a good book

dinner may be Moussaka
this recipe here is nice

just a nice, quiet day
although the rain may be beating against the window-pane

Wow i didn't know you were having three major storms in a week. I hadn't seen any news about it but then I don't watch much news. I hope for your sake the next one coming in has been predicted wrong and it will just kind of have a little wind and not much else. We have had our share in the last three years in the mountains of more major snow events accompanied with a lot of wind which brings on tree damage and power lines down, etc. I hope it goes easy for you. And the food you posted looks really good. I would just find a good book and hunker down. Sending good vibes.

In central Alabama in the US, we had our share of weather last Thursday. We drive around and look to see which roofs are damaged, where the trees fell, and which fences were blown down. Tommy's metal storage shed is on one side in the back yard. Things around here are blown all over and it was not even a tornado, but the warning was out for one. Here's hoping everyone can have a few days of pleasant weather for a few days.

You began the week with two marvelous meals: omelette at beakfast and Greek Moussaka at lunch.

So sorry to hear that extreme weather is still affecting that part of North Europe.
Firstly it may be dangerous for people, and, secondly, it may be crucial for farmers :-(

Take care!

P.S.: Thanks for sharing Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe's quote through your comment.

I hope Monday has brought better weather for you. We're in the middle of Storm Franklin, high winds and rain at the moment. I'm hoping it will pass soon. Stay safe.

Your ordinary day sounds like it would be heaven. I hope it happens for you -- and that you are spared damage from Franklin.

The storm finally breaks off and makes room for an intermediate high. Let's hope for spring after this ugly winter with wind, rain and gray skies.
We all long for the sun, because you can almost count the sunny days of this winter on one hand.
I wish you a good week, with relaxed tea drinking in the morning.

An ordinary day is the best kind imo, especially if it's like yours :) Those storms! Yikes!

I hope that you had a quiet day, it hasn't been too bad here.

Very nice meal choices here. I agree. I would love to go back to ordinary. Whatever you do make it the best.

Sorry you are having ugly storms. They hit here on the U.S. Gulf Coast often so I get it. But glad you are ok. Happy to read the Queen is ok with only mild covid symptoms. She is something of a hero here to many. That omelette looks/sounds awesome!!

Hope you had your ordinary day. We've been getting teased today with a spring like day. It is wonderful.

Yes, it has been nothing but storms here. We didn't thank goodness experience anything out of the way, saw the trees blowing hard through the window and heard of some windows being smashed by flying slates, and a couple of trees coming down, all of which must have been scary to say the least. I too am sick of storms, and I think your plan is a good one. Stay in, stay safe and stay dry.

I am hoping we've seen the last of the storms now. I'm definitely feeling ready for some spring weather. X
