I wrote the words below in July 2015
Now today in 2026 perhaps they are more meaningful ... our world is still in turmoil!
"Yes, it's mid-week already and I hope that the week so far has been a good one for you. With many parts of our globe in 'turmoil' sometimes I think we just need to take time out and reflect... I often do this with poetry. Some do not like poetry, whereas others always enjoy reading it. Our youngest when studying English could write a great poem. Should a poem rhyme or not? It's up to the author to decide.
I read this poem recently and quite enjoyed it - I'll share it with you here.
"Life Is For Living"
Life is a gift we're given each and every day.
Dream about tomorrow, but live for today.
To live a little, you've got to love a whole lot.
Love turns the ordinary into the extraordinary.
Life's a journey always worth taking.
Take time to smell the roses... and tulips...
and daffodils... and lilacs... and sunflowers...
Count blessings like children count stars.
The secret of a happy life isn't buried in a
treasure chest... it lies within your heart.
It's the little moments that make life big.
Don't wait. Make memories today.
Celebrate your life!"

Muito lindo esse poema e temos mesmo que bem viver a vida... Adorei as flores também! beijos, chica
Beautiful poem. Count blessings and make memories. Totally agree! Our world is too crazy at the moment.
I never mind if they have matchy matchy words or free-style. For me it's the overall vibes and messages. Thanks for sharing this!
It is definitely the little moments that make life big!!
I like the poem. I do like when they rhyme. :)
Lilacs are one of my favorites.
Dear Jan, the photo is beautiful and the poem is lovely and very meaningful. Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend!
You're great at poetry. I wish I was. I'll try writing something soon and post it on my Blog. I find it difficult finding rhyming words for some words. Like what rhymes with "orange" or "Mount Kilimanjaro"? See? Poetry is difficult ... for me.
God bless.
Nice poem, Jan. I enjoyed reading it.
Te mando un beso.
Jan, thank you for sharing your words from years past, as well as the poem. I enjoy reading poetry, whether it rhymes or not. :)
I so agree with you concerning the need for us to take some time to just reflect with all of the conflict and turmoil in our world today.
I wanted to let you know that when I was posting comments on the blog this afternoon that I was doing it from my phone and I accidentally pushed the "delete" button rather than the publish button. I am so sorry because I so enjoyed your comments. My fingers just got in my way. Thank you for your kind words. I'm so glad that you are making memories this summer with family and friends. The older I get, the more I realize just how very important that life is more about the people than the "things". And also thank you for your kind words about my picture of the Salmon and Lemony Stir-fry veggies. That was a meal that we will definitely be putting in our rotation. My husband really enjoyed it. Have a wonderful remainder to your week! And, Happy June!

... many thanks for letting me know about the accidentally deleted comment.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
God bless.
All the best Jan
I love this line in the poem - Dream about tomorrow, but live for today. Isn't that the truth!
That's a great poem. I always thought poems HAD to rhyme, but now I know better.
I heard Jan, but I like Lennie more when he sings. Good morning and have a nice day.. Hug!
Already Thursday now and the world is still... turmoil, turmoil , wherever you look. I think this is life, too?
*Wow*—what a touching poem, and so true—especially given this difficult year the world is going through, and the way we are having to live right now!
Thank you so much for sharing it with us here!
And a beautiful photo to go with it.
I wish you a wonderful day! Hugs, Elke
