Bob Blakeley - Cry Me A River : The Voice - Saturday Night Music

I wonder do you watch 'The Voice'? Here in the UK the show started on TV back in 2012, and it's still going strong. Back in 2014 "the nation gasped in shock, (me included),  when The Voice judges failed to turn round for Bob Blakeley’s spine-tingling performance of Cry Me A River. The Granddad from Stockport then won the hearts of millions when he cheerfully shook hands with the judges before graciously leaving the stage. However, the story did not end there for the 56 year old warehouse worker. Appearing on BBC Breakfast the following week Bob was offered a deal by music producer and record company boss Mike Batt." I waited patiently and when Bob's CD Album 'Performance' was released bought it - to this day it remains a favourite play. I hope you enjoy Bob's 'Performance' as he sings the classic 'Cry Me A River'.  All the best Jan

Hello Victor, many thanks for your comment/question.

Yes, it is Mike Batt of the Wombles.

Here is a little more information about him ...

He is best known for creating The Wombles pop act, writing many hits including the chart-topping "Bright Eyes", and discovering Katie Melua. We do watch the Voice and sometimes we just can't believe the talent they pass up and the 'talent' they accept.

I don't watch very much television, but I watched your video, and boy, that guy can sing. I think it proves that the judges on these shows don't always get it right.

Hello,

The Voice in America is one of my favorite shows. I am glad Bob is a success story even without the help of the Voice. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!

Wow! I had not heard this. His voice is amazing! I was preparing for Joe Cocker's gravelly rendition, but I like this one much better.
Thanks for posting!

Wow, this guy can sing, I'm so glad he got a chance to prove it without the help of the Voice judges.
I had goosebumps listening to him.
