Parsnips are a family favourite, they are a delicious type of root vegetable that have been cultivated and enjoyed around the world for thousands of years. They are closely related to other vegetables like carrots and parsley roots, parsnips have long, cream-colored tuberous roots with a sweet, slightly nutty flavour. In addition to bringing a unique taste to your dishes, parsnips are incredibly nutritious and have been associated with many health benefits.
Many enjoy them roasted, this makes them slightly sweet and perfectly tender for a quick side dish, which you might love more than the main course. I know two grandchildren who love eating them with a Sunday Roast ๐ their two favourites are Roast Beef and Roast Chicken900 g parsnips, peeled and cut into 5cm pieces
2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
1 tsp. dried oregano
Flaky sea salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
Method
1. Preheat oven to 220°C (200ยบC Fan). Spread parsnips on 2 large baking trays, being sure to not overcrowd. Drizzle with olive oil and season with oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Toss to evenly coat.
2. Roast until golden and easily pierced with a knife, about 30 minutes, tossing once halfway through.

...thi is a root vegetable that I need to try.
I much prefer parsnips to carrots. Particularly roasted.
I know carrots aren't exactly the same, but that is how we have been doing our carrots lately.
Your September photo is very pretty.
I don't know if I liked parsnips or not. I remember mom having them but I would never taste them. I was that type of kid that did not like new things...also, I wanted my mom's cooking.
Gracias por la receta. Te mando un beso.
They look really delicious.
Nice
They are looking wonderful.
Occasionally we eat parsnips when available.
I am the only one in the family who dislikes parsnips. I also dislike sprouts. I am a barrel of laughs at Christmas dinner!
Have a good Sunday! Debbie
I love parsnips. You've described the taste perfectly.
Looks delicious! I think most veggies are best roasted, yum!
Take care, have a great day and a wonderful week!
I like dishes made with olive oil. Thank you for sharing the recipe!
I've only made parsnips once. I need to make them again. For some reason neither my husband nor I ever grew up eating them. Have a super new week.
Yummy!
I never even had parsnips until we came to Ireland. I love them! I usually roast them in chunks with carrot and potato with black pepper and garlic sprinkled on. I plan to try parsnip 'chips' one day.
Oh I do like a good parsnip :-D
I love parsnips.
I love parsnips, and it was always nice to grow them and pull them out of the ground during winter to cook them. All vegetable seem to taste better when roasted.
I have not tried them roasted, but have enjoyed them in soup. I tried to group them once, but only got two small roots.
This reminds me of a recipe I've been meaning to make - parsnip fries. I've never made parsnips before, but I think I will give it a try.
Thoe parsnips look delicious! I will give them a try like that. Thank you!
Oh yes, this is good. We like to roast them too.
that is something that I have never tried
Don’t even see them in the stores here in rural Virginia. I haven’t tried them.
I do enjoy the taste of parsnips especially when they have been picked from the garden. They are a great crop to grow.
Such an interesting way to eat parsnips. I've only used them in making soup. I'll be they are delicious
