Fun and games.

The UK diabetes forum scene is in a semi-hibernating and pretty boring mode at the moment. Diabetes.co.uk is like watching grass grow since the lowcarb bad boys got banned, and set up the ‘eat to your meter’ rest home, for the easily upset and cakes and commiseration brigade. The standout entertainer at DCUK these days is A.M.Brennan, a medical student I am told. AMB makes old Sid look like a diplomat when it comes to rudeness and wearing the obnoxious crown. AMB should fit very nicely into the NHS when trained. A residency at the Stafford Hospital would be an obvious place for his talents. The Bonkers Brothers are pretty quiet these days as are the Slippery Sisters, Phoenix and Cherub, Jopar seems to have called it a day altogether. So, the forum of flog lumbers on with over 50,000 members, most have never posted, and can you blame them, why interrupt a good snooze to post on the dullest diabetes forum in the UK, other than Kenny’s place.

One thing you can’t accuse diabetes abc of doing is spreading poor information, because there is no information. In fact there has not been a post since January the 23rd. Say what you like about Ken, and most people do, he was great value for money on the entertainment front. Ken took dietary lunacy and bad forum  moderation, to a height even Felix Baumgartner fears to go, but xyzzy at eat to your meter is giving Ken a run for his money. It’s Kenny’s style all over again. You know how it works. You take on a mod, swiftly more mods come to his assistance, followed by a bunch of forum serfs. Before you can say ‘get them cereals down ya’ you are into the world of Déjà vu, and wondering, maybe it’s not as cold outside as you think, and time to head out to a river with some Pike lures and a decent rod and reel.

Eat To Your Meter, I had high hopes for that place, although on reflection, you have to wonder about the sanity of an outfit that wanted me as a part owner and board member. Did they think I would roll over and join the bonkers portion control and low GI diet aficionados ? These days I am reading a lot about short bread and digestive biscuits and Donna kebabs, jeez, bring on the horse meat a far healthier option, and certainly lowcarb. I thought ETYM would be a trail blazer, cutting edge, nil/minimal meds and a beacon against junk food and big pharma corruption, not a chance. It’s play it safe, middle of the road, and a carbon copy of DCUK at its worst. The last thing the UK needed was another mutual appreciation society for some of the mods and their toadying sycophants.

There are some good and knowledgeable people posting, but their patience and interest is waning, they have better things do than watch paint dry, let’s face it, you get thanked over there for posting this  ‘I was falling asleep after lunch again today’ Yes dear, I’m falling asleep reading the bloody posts. The larf of the week has to be when the biscuit munching Donna Kebab asked “I'm sorry if this is off topic, but i'm really wondering what an average week of meals looks like for Eddie. Does he eat vegetables or only meat?” Took me back to the ‘Does he take sugar’ era, anyone remember that ? Where is Borofergie when they need him, loafing about on some tropical beach I hear, what a slacker. Talking of arch slackers where is Carbo these days ?

His last post on his cesspit blog was on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, even the comments have stopped coming in. Has his one, overworked anonymous multi poster done the off ? Who knows, but what about Carbo himself ? The rumours are rife, from he succumbed to chronic dysentery brought about by a massive Orlistat overdose, to a bad back. One thing’s for sure, he has got very lazy in the posting department. There was a time when you could set your watch with his posts against our blog team, but not any more. We played our part in his exit visa from a mods job at DCUK. We had a hand in the failure of his diabetes for death forum, surely we have not seen the last of him and his wondrous blog. Make an effort lad, get off that commode and start pulling your weight !

So I see Eddie, it did not take you long to post a blog about ETYM after your inability to debate properly, I suppose as you have control here you can not publish things that you don't want to here, just like one of my last comments you did not publish.

Well it's tts to be expected, you do have tunnel vision and if its not your way, there is no way. Oh and if you can't stand ETYM then leave , it's quite simple.

Inability to debate properly, get a grip, it’s not me that resorts to abuse and ridicule over there, not that I’m bothered one iota. I say what I want over there, for how long can only be speculated upon. If your last comment was not posted it must have been dross, we don’t publish all the jibber we receive. As for tunnel vision, I will give you a tip my friend, tunnel vision is better than no vision at all. Can’t stand ETYM ? I love the place, but some of the info is barking.

Your dear "friend" Muni has been put in his/her rightful place on ETYM. Another plant Eddie?

Lowcarb team member said...

I don’t have a clue who Muni is but I like them. Put in their place, just like everyone that can see through the bullshit at ETYM. Where are all the new members, where are all the newbie’s, where is all the good information. It’s three mods and a dozen mates whiling away their time in a mutual back slapping contest. When are they going to get a name that works, maybe they don’t want it to work, they might attract some people who might rock HMS Cosy Café. Bring on the Hobnobs !

lol, I see Eddie, you still dont get the internet... ETYM is still a small, new website and with all the will in the world, no ones knows about it until it gets better rankings in search engines. Rome was not built in a day....

Anyone who thinks the words diabetes or diabetic is not of major importance for a diabetes forum is clearly suffering severe mental impairment or out of their mind on drugs. Having said that ETYM doesn’t talk about diabetes very much so it might just work. Maybe it will attract gas and electricity meter readers. Any new members will be better than the recent spammers.

Poor Eddie, does not know how the Internet works. A domain does not have to have the word in it. There are multiple 1000's of examples which i know you are fully aware off. Does www.apple.com sell apples, no. Its a brand name. Seo and optimisation is important...

I see, then why is the forum attracting virtually no one. The most active thread these days is the one I started 11 days ago with at this time 1149 reads. It's dying, get real, take away the poached members from DCUK and it's a dead duck, it's another forum of failure, a great pity, the ethos is wrong, very wrong.

It takes time Eddie, search engines, do not index new sites straight away, it can take up to 6 months to a year, unless you have money to throw a it, which we are of doing. Yeas your thread might be the most at the moment but that's because of all your negativity and people correcting you.

In that case Eddie, if its a failure we won't see you there again then?

I'm a bit behind the curve on this, but Anonymous above has said "Well it's to be expected, you do have tunnel vision and if its not your way, there is no way. Oh and if you can't stand ETYM then leave , it's quite simple."

Isn't that kind of missing the point?

A forum is for discussion.

I personally agree with a lot of what Eddie posts, some it I don't agree with but I think is funny, the minority of his posts I don't agree with and don't find funny. But he should be able to post the disagreeable along with the funny along with the stuff you agree with.

The whole point is you have no freedom of speech if you can't say things that people disagree with, are offended by, or anger people. Being able to say those things is the only test of that freedom.

Only saying what people agree with is not freedom of speech, it is not discussion, it is no more than self censored platitudes and won't get us anywhere.

Obviously, there are limits to that (the old shouting 'fire' in a cinema thing) but discourse requires argument or you are just chatting to yourself in the shower.

Thanks for the support Dillinger and having the courage post publicly, it’s appreciated. It would surprise some of the mods and around 12 of their gang how many people have pm’d, e mailed and called over the last few weeks urging me to stick with the forum and offering support. The real shame is that they fear to speak their mind on the forum. Many of the people we have know for years will not post on the forum the way they see it being run. These people could make a big impact and get the place off the ground but clearly their views are not wanted.

I know I rock the boat and encourage some serious debate, but only my jungle training has seen me through at times on the forum. Anyone that questions the dogma is immediately attacked by the mods/owners with an agenda and the gang. We have seen all this before with Ken and the clique, history repeats itself., what a pity the Eddie kickers have no sound argument for what I have said, other than mob tactics and ridicule. It is easy to see why a site with so many visitors but no one wants to join.

You're flogging a dead horse on the cereal thread on ETYM Eddie. They do not want to be told anything because they think they know it all.

A good name for their forum would be Findus. lol

Give it a few months and it will either be dead as a dodo or as boring as paint drying.

Dillinger, I don't actually disagree with anything Eddie says, just does not say it in a friendly way.

Nice to see you agree with me, ok my bedside manner could do with some improvement, but I am not trying to win a popularity contest.
