ETYM First Birthday !

The artist formally known as Eat To Your Meter is one year old, and celebrating it's first birthday. This is the forum set up by some of the most staunch lowcarbers ever to come up the pike. One year on it has less active members than it had in the first week. Trying to be all things to all men, it has ended up being a ghost sight and cakes and commiserations club. This is a great shame, because it could have been a fantastic forum, if only most of the highly knowledgeable and experienced lowcarb members had not walked within the first few months. A couple of ego trippers wrecked the place before it had a chance to get going, but hey, thems the breaks eh.

Anyway, never let it be said we don't wish them luck, I hope Grazer and Defren  like my gift of a birthday cake.

Judging by Defren's recent appearance, she has fallen right under the wheels of the wagon, got stuck in the mud and it hardly a good advert for any forum.

She has been singing the praises of her diet with things like "never hungry, becomes a way of life, always feel full" and then falls apart eating anything and everything.

She does not help the LC cause at all as she appears as a hypocrite.
She needs your cake badly.

We will never know what goes on behind the scenes but it looks like too many chiefs and not enough indians.

A great success.

Loads of Mods and two ditsy members asking loads of stupid questions.

Even Grazer seems a little dismayed by her reappearance.
Her resignation would have done more to boost the membership nos than any 'flyer' campaign.

Your right, one click of my finger and a forum is doomed, mods get their exit visas, and forum board members walk. Next week I will be walking on water and turning out the sun.

Eddie has been banned from that forum for longer than he was ever on it. If he was the cause of its decline as you suggest Anon, then why didn't all the members flock back once he was gone?

Did Eddie force Dillinger and Boro to leave? Did he make it into a place where the word "diabetes " was regarded as a social solecism?

His style might not have been to everyone's taste but but he did receive a great many 'thank you's' and he did make it seem alive.

The tone for quite some time has not been to the taste of many judging by the stats.

It is all too easy to blame someone with strong opinions -like Eddie - when things go wrong. That's too simplistic and lets too many others off the hook.

Just how can a couple of individuals bring a forum to it's knees? I think you will find the real ego trippers are still members there, but hey them's the facts.

It is a shame that it didn't go as planned; I remember the first conference call about setting it up which seemed to take about 3 hours (longer than any business conference call I've been on).

All I really remember was Eddie saying 'don't you think the word diabetes would be a good thing to have in the title?' ( a foolish idea apparently due to stuff and things) and me feeling uncomfortable with all this 'board member' VIP stuff.

The lesson is probably; keep to the point and keep it simple.

The biggest problem with ETYM is that they tried to run before they could walk. Anyone who has ever run successful forums knows they did virtually everything wrong from the beginning.
