Me too. Since being diagnosed 3 months ago, I've manage to reduce my Hb1ac from 10.2% to 5.2%.

Like wifilib, I have an almost zero tolerance approach to carbs, I aim for <30g a day, mainly by eating low or zero carb food for breakfast and lunch, so that I can eat as many vegetables as I like with my evening meal (and I never eat pasta, bread or rice).

I haven't missed the carbs at all. I feel 100 times better, and 20lbs lighter.

I have to echo wiflib, I too choose my eyesight, feet, healthy heart and feeling so much better by low carbing. I cannot understand why people sometimes seem too scared to give it a go. If only they would the difference they would find, it's amazing.

Congratulations to you wiflib!!

I am horrified at reading that thread 'amputation'. Yet more victims of being given the wrong information no doubt.
I feel so desperately sorry for these people.
I have had a foot ulcer that refused to heal, I am convinced that switching to low carb saved me. I truly turned the corner and never turned back. I truly wish everyone could be as lucky as i have been, please people give this low carb lark a serious try, you are worth it.

There's a fine line between offering advice and information and ramming low carb down peoples' throats. With the latter people just switch off and they are lost forever. We all know the benefits of low carb but we have to acknowledge that some people want to manage their diabetes in their own way. I think that is fine and if people want to 'enjoy' their last years eating what they want I am not going to judge them for that. The only thing that angers me is when you realise that some people just want everyone to be in the same miserable state as themselves, a sort of complications club, that is morally wrong.

Any diabetic who dismisses low carb without giving it a go is foolish quite frankly. If you've tried it and you it's not for you then I understand that and wish you the very best for what ever management you adopt.
