Slimming pills which led to the death of a medical student will claim
more lives unless regulators launch an urgent crackdown, campaigners
warned yesterday as it emerged that a legal loophole has allowed the
hazardous tablets to remain on sale.
Jim Dobbin, a microbiologist who is also the Labour and Co-operative
MP for Heywood and Middleton, called for a review of the law concerning
DNP (2,4-dinitrophenol) – an unregulated weight-loss product taken by
the Leeds University student Sarah Houston. It was linked to 62 deaths
around the world in a study published last year in The Journal of
Medical Toxicity.
“It is unacceptable that lives are being put at
risk by ineffective legislation and control of internet trade in
potentially lethal products,” Mr Dobbin said.

Any death is sad. Buying drugs online is dangerous and should not be allowed. But this highlights how desperate some are to lose weight. There is no miracle cure. A reduction in what you eat is the answer. Plus the willpower to do it.

True.It all starts from within. The gazillion weight loss magazines, websites and programs will not be of any help if deep down you are not ready to start losing weight.Don't mistake me,many want to,but they can't move.Trust me,if one is so serious about it,they will lose weight.
Another thing that's a no-no is artificial ways of going about it. I've never advocated for another way of losing weight save for natural ways-right diet, right feeding habits, walking, exercise, good sleep you name it.
Agree 100% !

I think most who have seen this article would agree that any death is sad. With magazines, television and other media outlets all showing being slim appears to be preferred it does put more pressure on individuals. I am not saying be overweight neither am I saying too slim is good. We all have to find ways that suit to lose weight. A reduction in what we eat, the right food groups to assist weight loss, more exercise all play their part. Encouragement from family and friends also helps. Taking slimming pills cannot be the right way.
