Dr Briffa Diabetics appear to be very interested in low-carb eating at DCUK !

Recently, I came across what looks like a whole better on-line resource for individuals with diabetes known as diabetes.co.uk. Diabetes.co.uk (not to be confused with Dabetes UK) describes itself as: “your resource for diabetes, diabetics, diabetes research and education; the leading community website and forum for people with diabetes”.  On the homepage, it states: “Diabetes.co.uk is growing as a community of diabetics and non-diabetics alike, offering their own support and first hand knowledge.” I like this last bit, because I’m a great believer in listening to what people who have had success in controlling their diabetes have to say. I don’t have diabetes so I’m not in the best place to judge what works. However, I’ve seen countless individuals report excellent results on adopting a low-carb diet, and it’s these experiences (plus some science) which has led me to conclude this way of eating is, overall, the best for people with diabetes.

Like any website, I can’t say I endorse every piece of information on it. However, I did take a browse through the forum (which looks lively) and took this screenshot from it today. Under ‘Diet and Nutrition’ the site has areas for individuals who are and are not interested in low-carbohydrate diets for controlling their diabetes

Just look at the figures here: Activity in the low-carb section is many times greater than the non-low-carb area. Have a look in the low-carb area and you’ll find plenty of first-hand stories about success with lower-carb eating.

None of this proves anything of course. What it shows, though, is that there is considerable appetite for information on low-carb eating among diabetics, and many are discovering the benefits of this way of eating. As this happens, of course, more and more individuals will come to realise that conventional dietary advice for diabetics if often misleading and dangerous, and I think the people at Diabetes UK should take note.

Looks like anything other than lowcarb interest and success, is very thin on the ground. What a coincidence Briffa took a screen shot with Nobhead at 911, another disaster. Lowcarb 11208, non lowcarb 911, sounds about right to me !

Dont forget numerous posts and threads in the LC forum were deleted when cugila started his cull so the total should be far higher.

Perhaps the non LC forum would have done better if they had stuck with it instead of spending all their time obsessed with trying to run down Low Carb.

I remember when the lowcarb forum was getting all the good news, non lowcarbers had a whinge. I suggested they set up their own non lowcarb success forum. Tubolard a mod at the time, stated he did not think it was a good idea and we should all work together. I had put the idea forward, because I knew the non lowcarb success would be very poor. Tubs is not as daft as he appears, and smelt a rat immediately. As we have seen over the years, almost all the improvements for long term diabetes control, and reduction in medication, has been down to the lowcarb lifestyle.

Yes Graham you are right re choppers handiwork, he deleted vast amounts of posts in the lowcarb forum. I think he called it a house keeping exercise.

What we are forgetting is the 'multiplier' effect of posts on the LC forum by the Clique, Each of these generates replies correcting the errors in Jokar's posts, the out of date references of the Slippery One and the errors in logic in Bonkers' interminable mutterings.

Notice how quick the Dr.Briffa thread was locked by Daisy as soon as Ken's trolling was mentioned,in light of this, how can Daisy realistically still be a mod as she is so Biased to Ken's Kingdom!

Ah yes Ken, after Eddie had kindly offered him a means to air his views on diabetes, replied with posts containing the following choice phrases:

s**t for brains
pile of s**t
s**thole place
Go F**K yourselves

This may be the language of intellectual debate amongst coppers/pipe-fitters (fat or otherwise) but here we appreciate a more reasoned approach. Good examples of such an approach are provided by the Holy Trinity of d.co.uk.

May I simply just say what a comfort to discover someone who actually knows what they're talking about on the net. You definitely understand how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to look at this and understand this side of the story. I was surprised that you're not more popular because you surely possess the gift.
