AHA President Suffers A Heart Attack Monday Morning.

"The president of the American Heart Association, John Warner, had a “mild heart attack” on Monday morning, according to the AHA. Warner received a stent at an undisclosed hospital. The AHA said he is “doing well.” Warner is 52.

The attack occurred while the AHA’s annual scientific sessions meeting was being held in Anaheim, California. Warner, an interventional cardiologist, has been the CEO of UT Southwestern Hospital in Dallas since 2012. Warner has an MD from Vanderbilt University and a MBA from the University of Tennessee. He completed his residency training in internal medicine at UT Southwestern and his cardiology fellowship at Duke University.

Upon hearing the news Sek Kathiresan (Broad Institute) tweeted: “Unbelievable. He just spoke last night about the many males in his family being affected by coronary disease. Our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery."

I wish this man a full and speedy recovery, it makes you wonder, if this man cannot avoid a heart attack, what chance for the rest of us?

You can't avoid what is inevitable......no matter how hard you try. Have a great day...well, you can try.

My dad just underwent open heart surgery. From what the cardiovascular surgeons, hospital team, and cardiologist told us, genetics play the biggest role in heart attacks. Living a healthy lifestyle does help, but cannot guarantee that one will not suffer from a genetic footprint. They told us they have seen skinny people die from heart attacks, and obese people never have a symptom of heart disease. It is a combination of genetics and lifestyle that affects cardiac disease, but still, since we can't change our genetics, we must make the best of the hand we were dealt. Prayers for this man that he fully recovers!

Wow he was young also, I do believe that some things just run in a family. I know a family that are all quite fit and very thin, and all the males in that family have had their heart attacks by the age of 60.

We had almost no deaths is the USA due to heart disease in 1900 now it is nearly 600,000 per year and 1/4 of those deaths there are no prior warnings at all. Our bodies evolved for 25 million years as herbivores, our bodies intelligently store enough cholestrol so we don't need it from outside sources--animal products or fish or dairy just clog our perfectly designed bodies and 50,000 miles of arteries. The American people are confused. Medicare now reimburses for educational programs that teach cardiac patients a vegan (whole-food plant-based) diet. It is the only diet proven by evidence-based research to reverse hart disease (which is why Medicare reimburses). Check out nutritionfacts.org and I am truly sorry for this man's untimely death at age 52.
