I think this comes down to different strokes for different folks.
I find it very easy to stick to a low carb diet around 50 per day. Others may find fasting works for them.
One thing both methods do is reduce the carbs big time. That being said, it's no good fasting and then going on a carb blow out when you start eating again.
So, on reflection I reckon permanent low carb is the way to go for most if diabetic. For non diabetics looking to lose weight, both methods must be better than carrying on a doing nothing.
Why not try both and monitor the results with a food diary etc.
