Rubber bands will last much longer when they are refrigerated.
When a rubber band is placed in the fridge, it causes the polymers to relax. This keeps the band from breaking down as fast as it normally does.
The eye of an ostrich is bigger than its brain.
Its eyes are around the size of a billiard ball. One eye is also smaller than the other. Perhaps this is why they tend to run in circles.
On average, a secretary will use its left hand for 56% of what they type on a keyboard.
This is because most of the most common letters in the English language are on the left side of the keyboard. The right side of the keyboard only contains i and n as the most common letters.
The dot over the small letter 'i' is called a tittle.
This dot is an integral part of the lowercase i and j. These dots also appear over the letters in various languages.
Tiramisu translates to ‘take me to heaven’ in Italian.
This implies that this dish is so good that it would take you to heaven. This Italian dessert is well-loved all over the world and has several alternative twists you can create... you may like to look at this lower carb Tiramisu Mug Cake recipe, find it here

Those are interesting facts! I'd hear about the dot on the i before but not the other things. I've never had tiramisu, guess I need to try it sometime!
Muy interesante, te mando un beso.
now that I placed the rubber bands in the fridge, where someone will mistake them for some rancid noodles... :)
I'm having trouble with my left hand and I can relate to the extra letters I use. I thought the ostrich fact was funny.
...each of these is news to me!
love your little factoids! I always thought tiramisu was "pick me up" but your translation works too! Hard to believe it is the last day of May today.
Wonderful tips, thank you so much for sharing. Lovely photo.
What a delightful collection of curiosities.
Jan - thank you so much for your kind comment on my blog!
I love your post - how entertaining! A "tittle"! Indeed! And now I can't get the image of an ostrich running in circles out of my head!!!
Cute tidbits of info. I think there are many additional reasons for ostrich behavior. Must be some violence-leaning genes behind the eyes to go around pecking people. Linda in Kansas
Interesting stuff there, Jan.
I am a touch typist and was aware that I use my right hand much more than the left.
I knew about tittles too.
I love these facts. I knew 'tittle' but not the others. Have a lovely weekend, Jan.
I like the one about the eye of the ostrich! Interesting facts!
hugs
Donna
I knew NONE of these so thanks for sharng them!
Interesting facts Jan. Tiramisu is a bit of heaven, yummy!
Take care, have a wonderful weekend.
I love learning new things. The tittle and the translation of tiramisu were fascinating!
Tiramisu is a great fun fact.
Always love your facts, good ones!
Poor ostrich!
Datos muy interesantes.
Gracias Jan 😘〰〰💕
Buen fin de semana Para Todos.
Un abrazo.
Interesting, thank you!
Molto interessanti questi 5 punti.
Soprattutto quello del tiramisù, il mio dolce preferito
Another very interesting post Jan. It's good to know all these. I just listened to one of those instagram health pieces where this lady was saying to eat a date before eating a candy bar, and I suppose any dessert. I wondered if you had ever heard of that? It's called 'Healthier Than Yesterday' if you are on Instagram, about the fourth down the list (on the pictures that pop up). All the best to you and wishing you a great weekend.
fun facts, who knew about any of them!! no wonder i love tiramisu so much. beautiful flowers!!
The only one I knew was the tittle.
Tiramisu is a trip to heaven. Fun facts
I taught myself to type so I think I use my right hand more. Tiramisu is so good.
Great tips, Jan. Thanks for sharing.
Tiramisu is aptly named. Happy June!

Hello Denise and many thanks for your comment.
I do not have an Instagram account but from your comment I believe what may have been referred to is the fact that choosing to eat a date rather than a candy bar could be a healthier choice. This is due to a few key differences in their nutritional profiles. Although dates are naturally sweeter than candy bars, they also offer fibre and other nutrients, which can help moderate blood sugar levels and keep you feeling full longer. Candy bars, on the other hand, are high in refined sugar and often low in other beneficial nutrients, leading to a quicker sugar spike and a potential energy crash.
This is especially important for readers who are pre-diabetic or diabetic because blood sugar spikes are best avoided.

Husband Eddie was a type 2 diabetic and the desserts he chose to eat were of the lower carb variety, take for instance a lower carb fruit like raspberries.

Jan, it is said that tiramisu was created as an energy food for Venetian courtesans due to the stimulating effects of its ingredients: coffee and cocoa.
I knew some of them but the ostrich one was the most interesting to me, animals can be so different from each other. Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
A great post Jan, I totally agree with the translation of the tiramisu. Avril x
Grazie per tutte le notizie molto interessanti.Olga
Have a nice Sunday, Jan ☀ I also wish you a lovely month of June.
