Some tranquillity on a Thursday ...
A view of houses next to the River Thames in Abingdon, near Oxford

It holds claim to ‘the oldest, continuously inhabited town in England’, Abingdon is a delight to visit. Stroll around the town and soak in the wealth of architecture, historical treasures, shopping, independent stores and of course the beautiful Thames river.
The River Thames, known alternatively in parts as the River Isis, is a river that flows through southern England including London. At 215 miles (346 km), it is the longest river entirely in England and the second-longest in the United Kingdom, after the River Severn.

... and there is usually a wonderful tea stop to enjoy a slice of cake, or even a scone, with your favourite brew. The scones may not be as low a carb as these ones here

I would love to see that in person!
Me gustaría conocer tu pais y ese río. Te mando un beso.
Abingdon looks like a lovely village to explore. Funny how I think only of the Thames in relation to London, but of course it flows elsewhere.
It does look tranquil, the kind of town we would all like to visit.
That looks like a lovely place to visit.
I think that is such a beautiful scene there. Love it.
It looks like a lovely quiet village next to the Thames!!
I'm putting it on my wish list.
Thanks so much for the tour!

Your warm words and charming glimpse of Abingdon-on-Thames make it feel like a serene escape through time, with a comforting cup of tea waiting at every turn.
That's a far prettier view of the Thames than I usually get to see. Xx
1990 I was in London. And never saw the Thames. Shame on me. In my defense.... I was only 18 years old and had a difficult partner... 8 years older and dumb.
Having walked the length of the Thames I can honestly say it has so much to offer. Its history and beauty is second to none.
Our 'Slow TV' background is of the Thames today on a sunny, blue sky day - very tranquil.
Tranquil is always good and water views a gift.
The Thames River has long been the heart of England, weaving through the bustling city of London and beyond. Yet, away from the city’s hustle, the Thames reveals a different side — peaceful, calm, and breathtakingly beautiful. The tranquil stretches of the Thames invite visitors to slow down and soak in the natural beauty of gentle waters, lush greenery, and charming riverside villages.
Whether you’re rowing a boat, walking along its banks, or simply sitting quietly watching the sunset, the Thames offers a serene escape from everyday life. It’s a timeless reminder of nature’s calm amidst the pulse of urban life — truly, the tranquil Thames is a sanctuary for the soul.
Beautiful view of the Thames River! Looks like a lovely place to visit.
Take care, enjoy your day!
That's a lovely view of a quieter part of the Thames!
Thank you for a lovely peaceful photo ... a few moments of tranquillity ... Oooops ... someone at the door, and the phone is ringing and ...
God bless.
I normally watch one episode of Escape to the Country every day and I enjoy it so much. Just recently I've seen a couple of episodes that are in towns along the Thames River. Such beautiful spots of the world.
Thank you for the link to the scone recipe. I will definitely be giving this a try very soon.
Have a wonderful day, Jan.

It looks lovely and a great spot for a cup of tea.
...such a beautiful scene!
What a charming looking town. I need to come back to England and just take the bus to towns everywhere! I do love harbor towns.
Such beautiful and peaceful corner of your country. I have never been to Oxford and ist surroundings.
Bom dia. Uma excelente quinta-feira com muita paz e saúde. Amaria conhecer tudo pessoalmente. Grande abraço carioca.
Looks like a beautiful area to visit. My first scone was from my neighbor lady when we lived in Chatteris, she had moved there from Wales to be closer to her son, and they were delicious, but I am sure they were not low carb :)
Looks like a lovely and peaceful place.
So charming and peaceful..

I would love to visit.
Greetings and all the best

A beautiful river!! We just finished watching a YouTube of Ed Pratt kayaking down the Thames. From the very beginning where he had to wade through it all the way to the ocean. So cool to watch.
Very peacefull.
Looks so beautiful and soothing!
Lovely photo. Looks like a nice wee village :-D
I enjoyed this. :-) I would love to visit.
