Food and Knitting - an Italian Deli with a difference!

Regular readers will know I do like to bring a variety of posts to the blog and I think this one fits the bill

"A little bit of Knitaly: Meet the artist making a deli from wool

Check out this wool-derful restaurant that serves Italian food with a little bit of a twist.

That's right... everything that's on the menu is made of wool!

Artist Kate Jenkins has stitched together an exhibition that's turned a Soho gallery into an Italian deli.

So if you fancy some fabric-otta or a sewed sausage, why not pop down to Kate's Knitalian for a look around.

Can-noli you believe this?

The food themed exhibition has been installed at a gallery in - would you believe it - Ham Yard in London.

Everything on display has been knitted to scale, and it features food like pizza, spaghetti, gelato, cheeses, and lots of small woollen snacks.

It's called Kate's Knitalian, the artist has said that it's "been a joy to create".

Kate has been making food-inspired artworks from textiles for more than 30 years, but this time, it's the food she's eaten for the last year that's inspired her most recent creations.

She says: "Anything that I've eaten over the last year or so for my research has been Italian, so it just all has come together."

There's also knitted sardines and crocheted cannoli to take a look at."

Kate Jenkins's exhibition, Kate's Knitalian, has filled Air Contemporary in Ham Yard with knitted, embroidered and crocheted food. The exhibition opened on 30 October and runs until 5 December. Entry is free and there is no need to book.

All the best Jan
