Whatever way you look at it, we are one of the richest countries on earth. Tonight people are sleeping rough, in parks and shop doorways at minus 3 centigrade. This is in a country when some men spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on a car. And people say I am nuts. What’s wrong ? Greed and greed personified.

At this time of year there is far more emphasis put on the homeless and those sleeping rough. Our local church does a weekly soup run as part of their outreach work. Once a week to help out is not enough but at least it is something. We need charities, churches basic banks and similar charitable services, this is a growing problem it will not disappear, I would ask you to donate to a good cause, you do not have to give a lot if everyone just gives a little that would help so many.
Think about it and do something different this Christmas.
Thank you on behalf of those who may not be as fortunate as yourself.
Grace
Its even worse here in the states Eddie. It would be rare for anyone to write what you did and many would claim its "socialism" to say that only government can make a difference since the need is too big. private charitable efforts are inadequate. why are they? people dont give even close enough to whats needed.
So Eddie what are you personally doing about it?
Like many of us I have been Christmas shopping this afternoon. Still about 10 days or so to go and the shops were busy. Most stores are playing that Christmas music, if you can call it music. Again like many I have cut back this year on what I spend - but I have spent - I have also donated to the Salvation Army. One of my friends who is on her own and has been for the past two years now helps out at a'crisis' centre at Christmas. I am sure we could all do more but in our rush, hurry and worry we do not always think of others less fortunate than ourselves.
Well done Grace for reminding us.

I am a socialist. I believe the strong must look after the weak, I have always been one of the strong. I never forget luck has had a great deal to do with that fact.
