My very good friend, catherinecherub and right honourable lady, has posted some stuff on low GI control today. Very interesting, but I ain't no rocket scientist. I checked the low GI lark out when I was first diagnosed. Great, but I did not want to spend 24/7 with a calculator in my hand. I have a life to live.
Nice try cherub, but get a grip.

When I was first diagnosed my diabetic nurse did tell me about GI and that I may find it helpful in lowering my numbers. I did look at several books and leaflets but couldn't get my head around it. The books never seemed to have the same reference number on the foods, and the lists never seemed to match each other. The books went in the bin and I then discovered low carbing. I bought the Collins Gem book that is referred to on the website and never looked back. Some may have GI worked out but not for me.

Your right about the GI diet Lynn it's confusing to say the least. For an example a banana is classed as Low GI at 51 whilst a banana cake is even lower at 47 http://www.livestrong.com/article/254976-the-glycemic-index-of-bananas/#ixzz28SPz33bR
For me as a T2 a banana is toxic and sends my BG into orbit, the bottom line is if your a T2 don't attempt to follow a GI diet without a plentiful supply of test strips.

Are you too thick to understand?
The web can be a strange place, a place to hide and be invisible or anonymous, call it what you like.
This is rude,"Are you too thick to understand". I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, and at times arguments, debates do get heated, and we all say things that on reflection were perhaps better left un-said, but at least have the decency to put your name to it.
Only my view

You don't have to be a rocket scientists to realise when your meter says Oh Shit after consuming low GI foods that it's not a sensible way to control T2.
Or maybe tubolard/carbo's Low GI diet is your gold standard?
